How to Throw a World Cup Watch Party from Your Home

Susan Brown
Have you ever considered throwing a party centered on the World Cup championship? It's a great idea, and it can be a lot of fun, too. Here are some helpful tips for throwing your own party!

Use lots of green. Green is for the green field that soccer players are on. Perhaps when you are making up the invitations for the party, make it on a grass green paper, with little soccer balls pasted on it that you've printed from free clipart websites like allfree-clipart.com.

Use the soccer theme. This means black and white, so use black and white balloons mixed together, for instance. Don't feel like you have to go to all the trouble of finding helium - you can tie bunches together and tape them securely to corners! Or, go all out with actual soccer balls - you can find mini ones to throw here and there, at places like the Dollar Tree and kid's toy stores, or order them online at orientaltrading.com for like $13 per dozen! They can be a lot of fun, too, for adults to throw around. Are you serving alcoholic beverages? Why not try decorating your own margarita glasses (or other glasses) that you can get as cheap as a dollar each from the Dollar Tree or even Wal-Mart. Buy some black and white craft paint, and go to work painting the sides of the cups (try and stay away from the mouth area)!

Use chocolate and vanilla to complement the soccer theme. You know you're going to have to have a lot of good food for your guests, so make sure to use the food to complement your party's theme. You can do this, for instance, using a chocolate and vanilla twist - have both chocolate and white chocolate brownies (called Blondies), or chocolate and white chocolate cookies! And of course, you could even make or buy (perhaps order ahead of time) a cake that looks like a soccer ball! Many bakeries love it when you make these special requests, and they can be a lot of fun for guests. Use the internet to find a bakery in your local area who can do custom orders. They're not hard to find!

Some other tips include making sure to send out/give invitations to your guests at least three weeks in advance. Keep in mind that the World Cup is going to be on July 11, 2010 at 1:30 p.m., so you want everyone to make plans now to be there. Also, since your party is based around the World Cup, you want to be sure that your television set is all ready and won't have any problems when it comes to the event.

Indeed, with these great tips, your World Cup Watch Party can be a favorite event all year for your guests!
