How to Get Tickets to New York TV Shows

Sabrina Ricci
There are more than just Broadway shows in New York City. The city is full of television studios, which all welcome live audiences. Here is a list of four shows taped in New York City and how to get tickets to see them. For a full list of New York City TV Shows, check out New York Show Tickets.

The Colbert Report

This show is one of the hardest to get tickets for. Fortunately, I was able to score a couple tickets and see the show on October 28-the last show before the rallies in D.C. (To see some hilarious signs and read about the rally, check out my blog post, "Rally to Restore Sanity/March to Keep the Fear Alive." Basically, to get tickets, you have to constantly check Colbert Nation to see if they've released tickets. You can reserve up to four tickets, and on the day of the show, you have to line up at least one hour early-even with tickets admission is not guaranteed.

The Daily Show

This is the next show on my list, and the process is similar to that of getting tickets to Colbert. Check The Daily Show website regularly. If tickets are not available, you can subscribe to their email list, where you will hopefully be contacted when they release tickets. However, this is not always reliable.

Saturday Night Live

To see this show, you have to have a lot of luck. Every August, the SNL ticket lottery opens for one month. During that time, you can email your contact information to snltickets@nbcuni.com. The show also offers standby tickets, which are distributed at 7 in the morning, the day of the tapings, at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. For more details, go to the NBC website.

The Late Night With Jimmy Fallon

The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon websitehas a cute tongue-in-check description of how you can get tickets to see the show. The easiest way is to call their ticket office at (212) 664-3056. According to them, "tickets are booked about one month in advance from actual taping." Like Colbert, you can only request up to four tickets. Also, like Colbert and The Daily Show, you can only reserve tickets once every six months.

Other shows you can see in New York City include David Letterman-The Late Show, The Early Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and The Today Show.
