Guide to Wearing Beautiful Scarves

Scarves are a great wardrobe staple that all women should have. There are numerous ways to tie scarves, based on which style you are wearing. From shawls, neck tie styles, and sarongs, the perfect scarf is waiting for you.

Neck Tie

Having a few silk or satin scarves is a great way to change the look of many tops. Solid color tee shirts instantly look more sophisticated when pared with a small scarf. A printed scarf can give a punch of color and fun to even the most monotonous career blouse. To tie at the neck, simply drape over the shoulder if the scarf is long. If the scarf is short, tie a bit tighter and move the knot to the side, or completely move all the way around for a choker look.

Shawl

Many times when you hear the word shawl, you may think of a glamorous event. Shawls are popular in velvet, lace, silk, and satin for evening events and special occasions. However, shawls are the perfect way to cover up and stay warm. A shawl can be packed away in your purse, to give extra coverage if you feel exposed due to a wardrobe malfunction. If you are going to an event and you are not sure if your outfit is too revealing, bring a scarf along. A shawl draped over your shoulders instantly looks elegant, and gives you a bit of coverage on the bust line. A large rectangular make up bag, is a great place to store shawls in your daily handbag. When the weather is cold, a shawl of a thicker material is a great layering piece. A shawl is simply placed over your shoulders.

Sarong

A sarong is great for summer pool or beach side parties and events. Sarongs can be purchased in many different sizes to offer the type of coverage that you are looking. Sarongs can be tied in various ways, depending on how long it is. For example a sarong that is 60 inches long and 45 inches wide can be used 3 great ways at the beach. You can hold each end of the sarong in each hand. Bring the sarong around the backside of your body so that the sarong goes all the way up to your underarm area. Cross your hands and bring the sarong up to your neck. Then tie the sarong into a knot. This is a great way to wear the sarong as type of dress that allows full coverage on the beach. The other ways to tie the sarong is to simply gather each end of the material and tie at the bust or at the hip area.

Shirts

Scarves can change the look of shirts that already own, by adding visual interest. Gather the end of the scarf, one in each hand. Knot the scarf right under the bust line. This knot can be secured with another knot or a decorative pin. The flowing fabric will look like it is a part of your shirt.

There are not many events where a beautiful scarf is not appropriate to wear. Wearing scarves often in beautiful fabrics that are silky to the touch add a glamorous touch to your wardrobe. Scarves are a great way to change the look of your current wardrobe.
