The following are suggested tipping guidelines when visiting Las Vegas hotels and casinos.
Hotels
Valet parking attendant - When the parking attendant returns your car to you a tip of $1-2 is suggested. A tip is not expected when you give them your car but many people choose to tip $1-2 at that time also.
Doorman - If the doorman simply opens the door for you, no tip is required. If he assists you with your bags either in or out of your car, tip $1 per bag. If he takes the bag to your room $1-2 per bag is suggested. When a doorman hails you a taxicab give him $1-2. Often the doorman gives extra assistance with recommendations or directions, then a $5 tip would be greatly appreciated.
Bellman - Tip the bellman if he carries your bags to your room $1-2 per bag. Do the same for the bellman that assists you when you are leaving.
Front Desk - Only tip $1 -2 if you are helped with early check in or late check out.
Maid Service - Tip $3-5 per day, more if you make a huge mess of the room. Leave the tip each day since there could be a different maid each time.
Restaurants and Bars
Waiter or Waitress - The suggested tip is 15 - 20% of the bill. If the service is exceptional, tipping more is always appreciated. If the service is not very good speak to the manager.
Buffet - If there is a person that clears your table or keeps your drink filled leave $1 per person.
Bartender - A tip of 15-20% of the bar bill is always appreciated, or tip $1-2 per drink served.
Wine Steward - The suggested tip is 10% of the wine charge.
Coat Check - $1 per person
Restroom Attendant - $1
Lounge Musician - A $1 - 5 tip is suggested.
Casinos
Cocktail waitress - When you are gambling in a casino, drinks are free. Tip the waitress that brings you your drinks $1 per drink.
Dealers - There are several different acceptable methods of tipping dealers. The general rule is to tip $5 per hour. Give the dealer chips as his tip instead of cash. You can either give the tip to the dealer or make a bet for them. It is acceptable to ask the dealer which method they prefer. To make a bet for the dealer, place your bet inside the circle and place the dealer's bet on the outer edge of the circle above your bet. When you are giving your dealer his chip always push it towards him as they are not permitted to pick up chips unless you slide it to them.
Craps and Roulette - same as dealers
Slots - If you win a hand paid jackpot, a 5% tip is suggested
Keno and Bingo Runners - Tip $2-3 occasionally if you are playing for a long period of time. Otherwise, a $1 tip is suggested for only a few games. If you have a nice size win 5% is always a nice tip.
Giving a tip, also called a a toke in Las Vegas, shows your appreciation to the person performing the service for you. This guide to tipping in Las Vegas hotels and casinos is a suggested guideline.

Post a CommentLast visit to Vegas I did not tip in the restaurants as the service was terrible - the best waitress we had was at the Luxor in the Buffet and we gave her $100.00 - yep that is one hundred - it was christmas she began to cry and we were so tickled that she was so happy. But if you treat my hubby and I good you get a generous tip. If you treat us bad or ignore us you get -0- ZERO no matter what hourly wage you earn.
