As the new pet owner of a baby kitten, I know you want the best for your new pet. Your new kitten needs lots of love and care. Raising a baby kitten is a huge responsibility. It will also be a lot of fun and a rewarding experience as you bond with your new cat.

Many new kitten owners want to know what it's like training a kitten. Is training a baby cat easy? In this pet owner's article, we'll guide you through the process of training your kitten. Training a kitten is usually a lot easier than training a puppy. However, cats are very unique pets and those unique kitten characteristics need to be taken into account when you start training your kitten.

How to Train Your Kitten to Grow Up Into a Happy House Cat

Kitten Training Tip #1: The easiest thing to train your kitten to do is to be litter trained. Cats naturally use a litter box, as it is part of their extinct to bury any waste material they produce. Training a kitten to use the litter box shouldn't take very long, as it's second nature for them. Buy a kitten-sized cat litter box with some cat litter. Place your kitten in the box and let her dig around in it for fun and explore the litter. Make sure your kitten knows where the kitty litter box is. It may be helpful to confine your new kitten in a small room with the litter box so she knows exactly where to go when she needs to use the litter box.

Kitten Training Tip #2: Train your kitten not to scratch the house furniture by buying your kitten a cat scratch post. Kittens naturally like to scratch things, so take a proactive training step and give your kitten a post to scratch before he discovers your living room furniture. Also, keep your kitten's nails trimmed but do not declaw your cat. Declawing a kitten is a cruel solution to scratching because it involves cutting off a part of your kitten's actual paw.

Kitten Training Tip #3: When training your kitten, be sure to let her have a lot of exercise. Train your kitten that it's fun to play with toys so that she doesn't want to play with your hand (a bad habit that you should never allow your kitten to do, because this could lead to adult aggression in your cat when she's grown up). Buy your kitten some fun cat toys like a catnip mouse to train kitten to play with cat toys.

With the right tools and patience, your kitten can be trained to grow into a well-adjusted, happy house cat.
