Ann Siper
You can transform the plastic or article Christmas garland into a beautiful Fall leaf garland suing a few simple steps. There is no reason to leave your artificial Christmas garland collecting dust in the basement all year.

So, break out that old Christmas Garland and give it new life with these fun and Fall decorations!

To Transform Christmas Garland into Fall Leaf Garlands You Will Need:

Artificial Christmas garlands

Silk Fall leaves

Fall colored Ribbon

Floral wire

Scissors

The first steps to remove any Christmas ornaments or Christmas colored ribbon from the garland. You can leave lights on the garland if you want.

Now, start taking yoru fall colored sill leaves and attaching them to the plain Christmas garland. Many silk leaves and flowers come with bendable stems, but if they do not, then simple cut a small five inch piece of floral wire and use that to attach the leave to the garland.

If you are going to use this Fall leaf garland inside and want to make it more elegant you have a few options. You can run small liens of white glue to outline the leaves. Sprinkle on glitter and them dry. Now attach as before.

You could also use glitter puff paint pens to highlight and outline the Fall leaves on the garland.

I wrote an article a while ago on How to Hang Christmas Garland. You can use these same steps to hang your Fall leaf garland on the front porch or even in your home.

Now, you want to take your Fall colored ribbon and start tying it into bows. If you need instructions on How to Tie the Perfect Bow, click here. These bows are the perfect accent to the swags you will be creating when you hang the all leaf garland.

Now, where ever you choose to hang your Fall leaf garland you want to add a Fall ribbon colored bow to each pint on the swag.

Slip a piece of floral wire through the back of the knot in the bow. Use both free ends of the floral wire to adhere the Fall ribbon bow to the garland. Just like with a twist tie.

By the way, twist ties would also work well in place of the floral wire!

By attaching these Fall colored bows to your Fall leaf garland you will really dress it up and make the garland look as if it is hanging thanks to the bows.

I love this simple to make Fall leaf garland because it can be used inside or outside on the front porch. It also gives more life to Christmas decoration that may be sitting unused most of the year!

To get really creative with yoru Fall leaf garland try adding Styrofoam pumpkins and gourds form the craft store as well. You can also find miniature little scarecrows at the craft store that would look great on a Fall leaf garland as well.
