During summer every living organism including plants wants to move from their habitat but it is never so easy to move the plant in summer. During summer intensity of Sun is too much and hot airy breeze is too relentless. During these hours we have no choice but to move some plants in. Here are some guidelines by which you can transplant or move any plant from anywhere at any time of the year.
- Hydrate the whole plant including leaves, flower and all, when its time to transplant the plant. Water the plants to be transplanted the day before.
- Dig the plant in the evening or in early morning so that there is no heat.
- Water the plant after digging the plant. Soil should be adhere to the roots during or after digging the plant.
- Remove the plant just prior to planting. The roots of the plant should not be exposed to the sun.
- After digging the place where to be transplanted, water that place.
- Place the plant into the hole with water. Allow it to settle in the new field and fill it with soil and water.
- Again water the whole plant including leaves, flowers and all.
- Try to shield the plant from direct sunlight for a week by using a row cover or a plain.
Water the plant daily. It can start wilting because of change in the habitat, so watering is must. Depending upon the weather and nature of the plant it may be possible that watering is required twice a day or more. Water the plant till it is established in its new habitat.
In the heat of summer, this extra precaution during transplanting the plant is vital enough to easing the transition.
