How to Travel in and Around Mumbai and Some Famous Food Joints

Just 2 months back I was in Mumbai to attend a wedding of my friend I had heard lot of about this city and was there to experience it. I was staying with my friends in Dadar area a hotel called Amigo. Dadar being central place this was very convenient place to stay. The sea shore was also on walkable distant from this hotel. Once the wedding was over we were free for out city tour. We had one local friend to take us to some exotic places.

First we went to Gateway Of India by taxi. This place is beautiful but crowded too. The back drop of blue sea , boats & flying thousands of birds for catching fish keeps you in amazing mood. The famous Taj Mahal hotel is just in front of the sea. After taking water ride in big motor launch for nearly 2 hours, It was almost sunset and we just sat there on the benches seeing those fish catching birds. Now it was the time to have some good food as we all were very hungry. Our friend took us to " Bade Miya " a roadside food paradise. This place is just behind Taj Mahal hotel. The Tandoor cooked food like, chicken tandoori, Seek Kebabs were wonderful. The chicken biryani was also very tasty. We were just full by now. Then we had a good ice cream.

Next day our friend took us to Nariman point area. First we got down at Girgaum Chowpati ( Sea Face ) and had long walk on the sands. From that place we engaged a " horse cart " which took us to Nariman point. It was a royal treat for all of us. Sitting in relax mood and watching city by night was very delightful event. The cart reached to Nariman point after 45 minutes. We waited there for almost an hour feeling the cool breeze from the sea.from this place you can see the spot from where we started, that was Girgaum. This belt is called as " Queen's Necklace ". Then we again traveled back to Girgaum by that famous horse ride. Here we tried a vegetable fast food joint " Sukh Sagar ". We had a famous " Paav Bhaji " ( Bread with mixed vegetables ). We also had steamed idli. Then we decided to go for a fresh fruit juice.

Next day, early morning we went on Shivaji Park beach which was on a walking distant. From there we went to Worli sea face by walking. It was a good walk. In the evening we were at Juhu beach. This beach is also very beautiful and had lot of food stalls. Here we tested famous " Pani Puri " ," Bhel Puri " & " Ragda Pattice ".
These items very tasty and hot as well. We ended up with " Sugar Cane " juice. We decided to take more walk to digest what we had. Then again, we had a " KULFI " at one joint and were back to hotel.

Next day we were to Borivali National Park. It was a very well maintained park and had a boating facility too. The park is very huge and need to walk a lot to cover the entire area. It took almost full day. At night we decided to have a fish dinner. We visited hotel " Gomantak " at Dadar and had our dinner. The food was too good and nicely served.

Next day we decided to go shopping. We went to near by shopping mall and did little purchasing. I found the ready made clothes at very nominal price. I also liked the artificial jewelery and did purchase some for my use.

Next day we engaged a local taxi and saw some famous places like Hanging garden, Banganga at Walkeshwar. From there we went to Mount Merry Church at Bandra. From there to Film City at Goregaon. We were tired by now. We had our dinner at Dadar in Great Punjab Restaurant which served north Indian dishes. The food here was very good.

Now was the time to pack my bags and return home. We thank our friend who took us to some best places and made our journey memorable.
