How to Travel Between Classes in High School More Efficiently

Long Distance Spreads Can Whittle Away Your Time

Ever have to get to the other side of the school for your next class? This can be a hard task if you attend a large high school. Trying to stay on time and squeezing in a trip to your locker or the bathroom can be tough. Some high schools won't allow students to carry backpacks during the school day. They might require that you only use a backpack to carry supplies to and from school. Hopefully if this is the case at your school they will increase the time between classes by a few minutes. Even so, you might still face a challenge to be on time. These types of regulations might be a good idea when looking from a safety standpoint, but in reality it makes getting to and from class in a timely manner much harder. Try these tips to help you navigate your school faster.

Running is usually not an option, due to rules or hall crowding. Consider sharing with a friend who might have a locker located closer to some of your classes. This is a great way to save time and your friend could benefit as well.

If your schools allow backpacks during the day you can always purchase one with wheels attached. Much like luggage, these backpacks will permit you to transport heavier loads of books and supplies without all the strain. Carrying more books with you means less trips to the locker.

Keep your locker clean and organized. You can try adding special locker shelves to help keep your books in order. Less time spent at the locker means more free time for you. When you only have six minutes or so between classes, even the little things can help.

Try taking all the supplies you need for the first half of the day in the morning. You can make a trip to your locker after lunch to get what you need for the second half of the day. This requires more carrying but you won't have to visit your locker as often.

If your school allows "wheelies", shoes with small wheels built into the heels, you might be able to navigate the halls more quickly with a pair.

A more unconventional idea is to scan your textbooks into .PDF form and use them from your laptop. This might be a challenge to complete, but you won't be carrying books around with you all year. You could scan some of the smaller books and this would help you avoid more time spent at the locker.
