Hold each position for three to five minutes. Or, if you can feel the Reiki flowing through you, hold until you feel it taper off.
1. Relax. Reiki works even if you're not relaxed, but relaxing will help you focus on the treatment and its effects.
2. Set your intention. Mentally tell yourself you're going to use Reiki to treat a cold and whatever caused it.
3. Put your hands together, and place them with the thumbs at the base of the person's nose. Don't touch their eyes, as this can be uncomfortable. This position treats the nose, sinuses, and eyes.
4. Cup one hand over each of the person's temples. This treats the immune system, headaches, stress, and fatigue.
5. Cup one hand over each ear. This hand position sends Reiki to the ears, nose, throat, balance problems, and colds specifically.
6. Hold your hands in a V shape in front of the throat. This treats throat problems specifically.
7. Hold your hands over the collarbone and breastbone. This position is used to treat the lungs, breathing problems, and allergies.
8. Place your hands just above or below the breasts. This treats the immune system and circulatory system.
9. Put your hands behind the neck. This treats tension in the neck and shoulders, stress, and headaches. Colds often begin as a result of stress and a low immune system, so be sure to treat this position.
10. Finally, place one hand on the soul of each foot, or hold each foot separately. This is an important position, because the feet contain reflex zones for every organ in the body. So this position treats all Chakras at once, and also helps with grounding after the treatment.
When you have a cold, it's best to start treating it with Reiki as soon as you notice symptoms. This way it won't become too severe, and you may be able to avoid taking medication for it. You should treat yourself or the person with the cold with Reiki at least once daily. The more you do, the better it will become. You should also drink lots of water and get as much vitamin C as you can, for immune system support.
