How to Treat Hyperpigmentation

Leo Dimilo
It is inevitable. . dark spots, sun spots, and uneven skin is just a fact of life. There are some good possibilities that will help you treat hyperpigmentation without having to spend money on laser skin treatment or even go to a dermatologist. This report will highlight some of the possibilities that a woman can use to her uneven skin using natural sources.

So What is Hyperpigmentation?

Chalk it up to too much melanin in some places and not enough in others as the source of your problem. Melanin is the substance in our skin which browns or tans us and protects us from the sun's rays. Usually, our melanin production is fairly even in our younger years. As we age, the distribution can start to become splotchy, which results in some areas being darker that others, hence we get the word "age spots". These spots can become more pronounced if exposed to the sun.

The key is to reduce or eliminate melanin production

If you have age spots, there are plenty of ways to either diminish the effects or elmintate them altogether. A dermatologist can do a number of treatments that they couldn't do a few years ago, such as a laser skin treatment. The problem with this type of treatment is that it can get expensive. An alternative that many women use is to take over the counter skin whitening products to help even out skin tone Combine this with some type of exfoliation system such as a salicylic acid cream and you will see better results

Skin Products that inhibit Melanin Production...

The most popular skin products that inhibit melanin production use hydroquinone in them. It does so by inhibiting tyrosinase, a catalyst substance that influences melanin production. The problem with this is that hydroquinone is illegal in most countries. The good news is that there are some natural skin whitening ingredients that mimic the benefits of hydroquinone. For instance, the alpha hydroxy groups that include salicylic and glycolic acid are freely available everywhere. The funny thing is that most of these natural sources for evening skin tone work because broken down chemically, they are the same.

One word of warning...

As with all beauty products, you will want to test them first before you go "all in". The reason is that many skin whitening ingredients can aggravate sensitive skin. While ingredients such as kojic acid may be a safe alternative to Hydroquinone, understand that it is still fairly new to the cosmetic world and therefore the risks haven't been fully assessed.

Exfoliate and diminish hyperpigmented skin even more

Using a bleaching cream by itself will work wonders on your skin but near as much if you add an exfoliating lotion. Adding a weekly glycolic acid peel at home could produce clearer, younger looking skin . In addition to this, there are some face products that you can use daily as well for clearer skin and help even out skin tone. For example, you could use a kojic acid soap. Totally safe for daily use.
