Dogs can suffer from many skin conditions just as humans can. It can be difficult finding a safe treatment for dogs who have skin conditions because there are numerous factors that can cause skin irritation. Depending on what is the underlying cause of the skin condition, there are many safe and natural remedies available that can be used to treat skin conditions in dogs. Many home remedies are easy to use and are effective for treating a wide range of skin conditions.

Skin Conditions in Dogs

As with humans, dogs can suffer from a wide range of skin conditions that produce irritation and multiple symptoms. Many of these skin conditions can result in severe discomfort to your pet. Luckily, many of the common skin conditions in dogs can be treated with simple home remedies. The home remedies will relieve the irritation and symptoms, allowing the skin to heal. To determine which remedy is correct for your pet, the symptoms your pet is experiencing need to be evaluated.

Allergic Reactions

Dogs can suffer from allergic reactions. Allergic reactions can be caused by numerous things, such as a new bath soap or laying in grass. Serious allergic reactions can cause your dog to experience itching, which can later cause crusty, painful lesions. You can help your dog and relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of an allergic reaction using colloidal oatmeal. Place the oatmeal in a cool bath and bathe your dog in it for about ten minutes. After your dog has soaked in the oatmeal bath the itching will subside and the lesions will have a chance to heal.

Insect Bites

Insect bits are common for your dog to experience, especially if they spend a great deal of time outdoors. Often, insect bits cause your pet itching and pain. Using a simple mixture of baking soda and warm water to cleanse the insect bite, you can naturally relive the pain and itching your dog is experiencing,

Irritation on the Feet

Dogs experience skin irritation on their feet for a number of reasons. Commonly, a skin irritation on their feet cause your dog's foot to itch or burn. As a result, the dog often licks, chews, or bites their feet. If left untreated, your pet can cause further irritation to their feet. To relieve your pet's irritation, provide your pet with a foot bath that includes cool water and Epsom salt. You can soak your pet's feet in this bath for 10 minutes; however, be very careful they do not drink the water.
