How to Treat a Sunburn

C. O.
A sunburn can occur at any time when the sun is making direct contact with your skin by releasing ultraviolet (UV) rays that can damage your skin if overexposed. Most people only believe you can get a sunburn during hot sunny days, but that's not true as you can get a sunburned as long as your skin is exposed to these dangerous UV rays. The symptoms of a sunburn can range from having redness where the sun was exposed to your flesh to your skin blistering which will lead to the skin eventually peeling leaving you in much pain. If you think you may have a sunburn get out of the sun right away as being exposed after your skin is already damaged can lead to a more serious degree of burn and in later years of your life can cause winkles and skin cancer.

Treating a sunburn starts the moment you plan to go directly into the sun for long periods of time by using a sunscreen to block most of the UV rays from scorching your skin. If your already burnt by the sun the first thing to do is to get some Aloe Vera medicine (which you can also attain from the Aloe Vera plant by braking off a leave of this plant and using it's gel like substance to apply to your skin) and apply it directly to the affected areas for relive to the skin that helps moisturize your flesh. Taking a cold shower or bath can also provide a great deal of relive to your burns, but remember not to use soap on the burnt areas of your skin as soap could cause irritation as well as remove the oils your body produces to heal these burnt areas. When getting dressed find clothes that fit loose to your burnt areas to reduce pain when putting on and removing clothes.

Sunburns can also put you at risk of dehydration so remember to drink plenty of water as well as eat healthy to keep up your strength which in turn will help you body recover faster. When your skin begins to peel try to avoid scratching or peeling at it because doing so could result in more damage to your already damaged skin. If your burns are more serious and you begin to get blisters don't ever try to bust them open as these can cause scars and could leave your skin to infections making your life even more miserable. If you begin to feel sick in any way and think your skin is burnt really bad then don't hesitate to consult a doctor to find out other alternatives to heal you skin back to normal.
