Most people who bake bread know that if you add garlic while your dough is raising it will kill the yeast. This is why most who bake bread know to wait until the bread is fully raised before adding garlic. The same concept applies to women with yeast infections, garlic will kill yeast.

If you are able to pay attention to your body and catch the first signs of a yeast infection you can effectively cure a yeast infection with a single clove of garlic. Taking a single clove of garlic, peeling off the natural papery cover and leaving the clove intact insert the clove into the vagina for a few hours to overnight will aid in curing your yeast infection. Because there is a connection between the vagina and the mouth it is recommended the treatment be done at night. As you will wake to find the flavor of garlic in your mouth in the morning and doing this treatment during the day can become bothersome.

If you are unable to catch the symptoms early and you are already experiences white discharge that are common with yeast infections you will need to be treated with a higher dosage of clove. This can be achieved by cutting the garlic clove in half and repeating the treatment for a few nights.

If you suffer from repeated yeast infections you may benefit from taking oral garlic supplements that can be found in most health stores and drug stores.

Before trying any home remedies it's always best to consult with your health care provider as these methods are part of folk lore or passed down by generations and may not be approved scientifically or may interfere with preexisting health problems, medications you are on or be dangerous if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
