You would get only one chance at the interview, accept if the initial one is only the first round of interview. Both aspects demand an additional interview. The followings are five guidelines that would help you succeed in interviews and get the job.
Get ready: Always be ready for the telephonic interview. Though you may not be able to prepare answers, you could expect what could possibly be asked and be ready for it.
Two questions that are universal and hard and are frequently asked are "Why is a work at home job preferred by you? And "What sort of limitations do you have?
You should be all set to answer these questions. So, repeat them persistently. Never learn them by heart or write them either, as it seems to be drafted, mechanical and abnormal if you try reading them.
Always keep the cover note and bio-data next to you for reference. Keep sufficient paper as well as pen near you to write any important details while you are attending the interview.
Calm surroundings: You would get diverted with ease if the surroundings are noisy particularly if dogs or children are beside you. It would be better if you take the necessary steps to take care of the child and switch off the TV as well as radio.
If the telephonic interview happens suddenly, go to the noiseless room of your residence. It is ideal to use a landline. If you decide on a cell phone, ensure that it has been charged and go to the room that has the capacity of receiving calls without any hassle.
Lucid voice: Nervousness is common. When certain individuals become anxious, they start roaming, talk rapidly, sound thrilled and the voice might tremble or break. Be slow, lucid and to the point.
Make it a point to answer the question that they ask you. Never explain as you may sound to be an absurd person and will thus miss out on the chance.
Avoid making sounds like "mm" and "uhm". Never use slang phrases such as yeah.
Communicate with poise and a smiling expression on the face. Though they might not be able to see the smile, they will be able to experience it through the voice.
Proficiency: Always be polite and professional. Never talk bad things about your earlier boss or other organizations. You should never eat, consume or chew gum while attending the interview.
Certain individuals think that dressing up, makes them more self-assured. So, dress for achieving victory.
Make inquiries: It is an important aspect of an interview. Investigate the organization. You would be able to convince the employer that you were attentive and are attracted to the work if you prepare a set of questions and ask them.
Final tip: Just like you would do for any employment, send a Thanks giving letter and state why the telecommuter's job will be right for you.
