How to Trivialize the Political Scene - Trump and Obama Share Blame

Pat Bartels
First you add Donald Trump taking credit for forcing the hand of President Obama in showing his birth certificate. Then you have President Obama saying he doesn't have time for such silliness. If he didn't have time for such silliness, why did he have time to go on the Oprah show to yuck it up with the famous talk show hostess? This is how you really trivialize the political scene.

Trump and Obama are both guilty of waisting their time on an issue that is totally stupid. President Obama has been on the fund raising/campaign trail for weeks. He is on a quest to raise a billion dollars for his presidential campaign. What has happened to our political process? We need billions of dollars to run a campaign, and end up talking about an issue that could have been resolved very simply a couple of years ago.

How can the American people have faith in individuals running for an office as important as the presidency be taken seriously when they are making a mockery of the political process? Donald Trump will be making an announcement about his 2012 candidacy after his television show the Apprentice. How appropriate is that? Let's hope his announcement is to say that he is not running. That way we'll know for sure that this whole thing has just been one big publicity stunt to bring up his ratings.

CBS news says that the show with President Obama's taping of the Oprah show will air next Monday. I'm sure the world is waiting anxiously to see this interview.

Hopefully what has been witnessed this week on the political scene is not a sample of what will be continued in the 2012 election process. Politicians just don't seem to get it. American voters are not interested in this type of hype. Voters want to know how the important issues of government spending, jobs, and the economy are going to be addressed.

Let's cut the crap and get down to the nitty gritty. We need a candidate who is interested in standing up for what is right. We don't need someone who is only interested in an ideology. Do what's right for the American people. More and more unrealistic programs are being foisted on taxpayers. Someone needs to stop this craziness. Where is George Washington when you need him?

They used to say "all politics is local..." I think it's more like "all politics is trivial," even though it shouldn't be.

Trump is a joke, but I also agree that it doesn't seem appropriate for the President of the United States to appear on any talk show. It seems to diminish him. I saw a clip of the Oprah interview, and she actually interrupts him mid-sentence at one point. Don't think that does his image any good at all.

It's sad how much we have to vote for President with our dollars; the return on investment is often much worse even than most government spending of our money!
