How to Turn Healthy Frozen Entrees into Healthy Man-Size Meals

Kassidy Emmerson
My guy is supposed to eat less fat, sodium, and those other things that are considered bad for all of us. So, he bought some healthy, frozen entrees. (This was probably due to guilt brought on from eating a DiGiorno for One Traditional Crust Four Cheese Pizza. Read the review here.) Sometimes Guy can eat a light meal and be satisfied. Other times, though, his appetite kicks into overdrive, and only a man-size meal will do. Read this informative article and find out how to turn healthy frozen entrees into healthy man-size meals!

Healthy Frozen Entrees Are Wimpy Meals
My freezer went on the fritz. As a result, I've been making meals almost exclusively from frozen foods. Deep in the back of the freezer, what did I find but the rest of the healthy, frozen entrees Guy had bought. When I suggested he eat an entree every day to use them up, he scrunched up his nose in disapproval. Was it the taste? No, he said the healthy frozen entrees he had tried were delicious. They just didn't fill him up. He tried eating an entree, a small salad, and some cottage cheese for lunch. But, the healthy, frozen entrees just didn't cut the mustard. Guy was still hungry. And he missed his favorite foods.

How to Turn Healthy Frozen Entrees Into Healthy Man-Size Meals
Although they were healthy, his new frozen lunches had Guy craving more. He was consuming around 300 - 500 calories for lunch. But they weren't "filling" calories. He's a "meat and potatoes" man.

One day for lunch, I heated up a healthy Stouffer's Lean Cuisine Garlic Beef and Broccoli frozen entree. I baked a potato (about 140 calories, no fat, no cholesterol, and it's loaded with heart-healthy potassium). I topped the baked potato with the entree. I then put a healthy portion of green beans on the plate (70 calories, no fat, no cholesterol, full of calcium). A portion of baked Butternut squash (70 calories, more calcium and potassium) rounded off the man-size meal. A 450-calorie low-fat, healthy lunch that satisfied Guy.

Using the same healthy, frozen entree as an example, you can put it over rice, pasta, or "skinny" mashed potatoes (low fat because you substitute chicken broth for butter and milk) and still have a healthy, man-size meal. You can even put it over a biscuit or a slice of toast if you desire. With a little creativity, it's easy to
turn healthy frozen entrees into healthy man-size meals. The entree starts out as the base of the meal. Then, all you need to do is round the meal out with favorite foods. Just make sure they're naturally healthy, such as vegetables or whole grains.

Using the healthy frozen entrees as a base gives you a variety of delicious meals without the hassle of buying the ingredients and cooking them from scratch.

Good ideas. Those little entres don't fill me up either, and I'm a woman. I crave my carbs! I guess that's why I'm fat.

These are great suggestions, thanks. My guy sounds similar to yours, meat and potatoes. He wants bulk.
