Buying pre-made store decorations can run you a lot of money. There is always the same basic pink, blue and yellow decorations for a baby shower in every store that you go. This is why every baby shower that you have attended has the same look. With the same dull expensive baby shower decorations to choose from, it is no wonder that no one can seem to make their baby shower unique. The best way to save money and make the baby shower that you are throwing stand out in the crowd is to make the decorations your self. One of the easiest baby shower decorations that you can make for your party is an umbrella baby shower decoration.

Step One

Buy an inexpensive parasol. A parasol is a small decorative umbrella that is usually decorated in lace or a single color fabric. You can choose to go with either style depending on the look that you want. This type of umbrella can be found in a party store usually in the baby shower or bridal shower section. By buying a simple umbrella that you can decorate yourself, you will save a lot of money.

Step Two

Buy a few rolls of decorative ribbon in the color theme that you have chosen for the baby shower. This will be used to tie your umbrella baby shower decoration into the rest of your party decorations.

Step Three

Choose small plastic baby themed items that you can tie to the ribbon that you have chosen to decorate the umbrella with. A great choice is small, medium, and large plastic pacifiers. Party stores usually sell jewel toned pink and blue ones in large bags at a small price to use as baby shower favors.

Step Four

Wrap the handle of the umbrella with the ribbon that you have chosen. You can either chose to glue the ribbon in place or tie it so that it can be removed later. This will give the handle of the umbrella baby shower decoration a unique twist.

Step Five

Tie strips of ribbon at varying lengths to the umbrella so that they dangle when the umbrella is hanging upside down. You can tie the ribbon along the edges and in the middle of the umbrella for the baby shower.

Step Six

Tie the plastic baby shower party favors in varying positions along the dangling ribbons. You will want to vary their position so that they are not clustered together. This will make your baby shower decoration look great.

Step Seven

Hang your umbrella baby shower decoration from the ceiling of the room in which you will be having the party. You will want to hang the decoration by the handle with the umbrella open so that all the ribbons hang down.
