The first thing you want to do to help stop pain is diagnosis the problem. Once you know where the pain is coming from you can check into methods of easing the pain, whether it be a muscle injury that needs heat applied to it, or a leg cramp that could just require a good stretching.
The best thing you can do for yourself to stop pain is take a visit to the doctor for a proper diagnosis, and proposed treatment options. Once your doctor has identified the problem that is causing your pain he can write you a prescription to help ease the pain and begin the healing process to completely eliminate the cause.
If you are suffering from a minor level of pain such as a headache, then taking an over the counter medication such as ibuprofen, can help ease the pain or dull it to a more manageable level. Identifying the source of the pain and the level of pain your are experiencing is key to help stop the pain.
If you have been through a diagnosis method and have seen a doctor, but are without a probable cause of the pain, and no treatment methods available, you may benefit from seeing a psychiatrist. Pain can be more than just the physical feeling, pain can originate in the brain, your brain has the ability to trick your mind and make you think like you are hurting when you really aren't. Checking into a psychiatrist and their methods of diagnosis is another excellent way to help stop pain.
Some will argue that pain is a natural occurrence in life, that it is meant to be felt to help keep us alive, while this may be true, there are so many negative issues that arise with pain that stopping it may be the only way to help keep you alive. People can die from too much pain, so making sure to identify the problem early on, so it can be stopped though the various treatment methods.
Overall if you are suffering from pain in any of the probable causing, seek a diagnosis, then a proper treatment to help stop the pain. Remember that pain is a blessing in disguise, it helps us realize we are alive, but it also a negative issue that more often than not needs to be stopped to help keep us in balance.
