What is the DVDsoft Toolbar?
DVDsoft is a company that provides free video converters. You can convert video files from avi to mpeg to mov, for instance. One of DVDsoft's most popular products is the YouTube to MP3 Converter, which allows you to convert the audio from any YouTube video into an mp3 file you can play on your computer or iPod.
It's a free way to download music without blatantly violating copyright laws by using torrents or some other method. The company also offers products to convert video for various devices like BlackBerry, Nokia, Sony PlayStation and XBox.
However, if you install these converters, you may find that you've also installed something called the DVDsoft Toolbar, an unnecessary extension. You're probably here because you want to remove this toolbar.
With 40,000 fans on its Facebook page, DVDsoft is a respected company, so don't assume the toolbar they installed on your computer is spyware or a virus. It's legitimate software, but it's probably something you don't want.
How to Uninstall the DVDsoft Toolbar from Internet Explorer
The toolbar can be installed on Internet Explorer and on Firefox. For the Firefox removal instructions, skip ahead to the next section.
For IE, removal is as simple as clicking the Programs and Features icon in the Control Panel (or "Add/Remove Programs" if you're still using XP). Then, select the DVDsoft Toolbar and press the Uninstall or Change/Remove button. It's as simple as that. You may be prompted to restart your computer. If so, do it.
How to Uninstall the DVDsoft Toolbar on Firefox
With Firefox, the process is a bit different. With Firefox running, go to the Tools menu and select Add-Ons, then select Extensions. You should see the DVDsoft Toolbar in the list. Highlight it and press the Uninstall button to remove it. After you restart Firefox, the toolbar should be gone.
