How to Unleash Your Creativity

Creativity is a talent that runs in all of us. It is wrong to say that only a lucky few have it, because the fact is creativity is just like a muscle that needs to be exercised to give out the expected results. If you don't take time to practice your creativity, it will very much atrophy into inexistence. But if you keep practicing, your hard work will eventually pay off and it will soon come to you easily.

To unleash your creative thinking, you should take in as much knowledge and ability you can find. Read anything that you can find and always keep an open mind to the endless possibilities. When you know more things, you'll want to learn more, and so your gift of wonder will be exercised. You will be amazed by the little facts you discover day by day.

Try to focus on a creative activity everyday. It can be anything-from doodling, to photography; don't let anything stop you. Practice doodling, or draw for a few minutes everyday. Take pictures of almost everything you can find. Keep a journal or an online blog and make it a point to write something each day. Before you know it, these things will become a part of you and unleash your creative side.

Sometimes, limitations can be a good thing. It actually disciplines you to work within your means, enabling you to be more resourceful. Creative freedom is wonderful, but constraints impose discipline.

Also try to do something you've never done before and let your experiences widen your aspects. Explore a new area in your neighborhood. Spend an afternoon in a newly-opened art gallery. Share a seat in a diner. As you come out of your comfort zone more and more everyday, you will find that your sense of adventure grows. Ask yourself. When was the last time you did something new? You might be missing out on experiences that could have added to your growth not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Why not start today? Not only will you have fun, you will also have plenty of stories to share to your kids or friends.

John Russell once said, "Sanity calms, but madness is more interesting". Sanity limits people to think normally. That means within limits. Now that can't be called creativity. Creativity is breaking through bounds. So release yourself. But make sure your creativity doesn't get you detached from the real world completely. Now that would be called insanity.

If you allow yourself to think beyond your limits, to release your inhibitions and follow your heart, you'll soon be unleashing the creative side of you.
