How to Unlock a Disabled Apple Itouch

Nicky B
All my son wanted for Christmas this year was an Itouch by Apple. This item was his only gift, besides a few itunes cards.

He figured out the software pretty quickly. However, he put a passcode on it. He kept changing it during the 1st day. I knew this was all about excitment. I warned him that if he continued to change his password he would forget it. Needless to say, day 3, he did just that.

Trying to get a hold of Apple technical support was a nightmare. So I just started messing around with the itouch until something happened.

This is what we went through. He put in the wrong passcode. The itouch software allowed him 3 mistakes before disabling it. It was disabled in increments. First it was for a minute. He entered the wrong one again. Disabled for 3 minutes, 15, 30, then an hour.

This is how to undo the problem.

Make sure that the itouch is plugged into the computer. Press the power button on the top. Once it is turned off, make sure that it is still connected to PC. Hold the top power button and the home Apple button together until it turns back on. Do not let go until you see the sync cable and itunes picture on the screen. Let go. Once this comes up, go to itunes. That should already be opened since the itouch is connected to your PC. There will be an error with itunes. Click "OK" to reformat the itouch. It will take approx. 10 mintues to restore your device to factory settings. It will erase everything on there.

Just upload your videos, pictures and music. Viola! You are now able to access your itouch device. This also works with the iphone.
