MySpace, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and Facebook are just a few of the more popular social networking websites, but there are dozens of social networking platforms, each with millions of users. Most social network sites allow you to post brief status updates to your account, letting your friends and followers on the site know what is going on in your life with up-to-the-minute news. Many social media users maintain accounts on several networks, and many more have at least one blog. The end result is that you may end up posting the same content or links to your content manually on many different sites. Fortunately, you can post to all your social media and blog sites simultaneously by sending one update to a free PixelPipe account. PixelPipe is a Web service that posts your content instantaneously to dozens of social media websites. Setting up and using a PixelPipe account is easy and free.
Create a PixelPipe account by going to www.pixelpipe.com and clicking the "Sign Up" link in the upper right corner. Follow the simple on-screen instructions to create your free account. If prompted, check your email account to confirm your registration.
Sign in to PixelPipe with the email address and password you used when registering your account.
Add your social media accounts to PixelPipe. Each social media network added to PixelPipe is called a "pipe" on the service, so click on "Add Pipes" on the left-hand menu of your main dashboard next to each social media account you want to add, then follow the on-screen authentication instructions to allow PixelPipe to post to your account. For example, to add a Facebook account, click the "Facebook" button under "Add Pipes." Follow the on-screen instructions to allow the PixelPipe service to post to your Facebook. When PixelPipe finishes authenticating your Facebook account, it redirects you to the "Add Pipes" dashboard.
Repeat this process for all your social media accounts. If you can't see the social media service you're trying to add from the list of available services, or pipes, click the "See All Available Pipes" link near the top of the page to see more available services. Click the service's logo from the list of services and follow the on-screen instructions to add your account information.
Add your blog account to PixelPipe. From the "Add Pipes" dashboard, select "Blogging" from the drop-down menu next to the "Filter by Capabilities" field. This displays all the blogging platforms to which PixelPipe is capable of posting. Currently, this includes Blogger, LiveJournal, Tumblr and WordPress. Click the service for your blog and follow the on-screen instructions to add your blog to PixelPipe. You can also add an email address, if your blogging platform allows you to update your blog via email. Note that you can add more than one blog.
Update all your social media accounts and blogs by emailing PixelPipe. You need to send your status update, post, image or other content that you want to post in email format to a unique email address PixelPipe assigns to your account. Find this address by clicking "Settings" in the left-hand menu of your PixelPipe dashboard. The email at the bottom of your screen next to the "Upload by Email" field is your unique PixelPipe email address. Attach any photographs to the email that you may wish to upload to your blogs or networks. Leave the body of the email blank. PixelPipe will post the subject line of the email as your status update to all your social media accounts, upload your photos and videos to your designated services and post the body of your email as a blog post - all within a few minutes.
TIPS
You can also update your status directly from the PixelPipe dashboard. Log in, then click on "Quick Post" in the left-hand column. Type in your status update, select the services to which you'd like to post and click the "Post" button.
To update your status directly from your phone, email your media to your PixelPipe email address from your phone's email client.
WARNINGS
Depending on the server load of the PixelPipe servers, your status updates may not post for several minutes to Facebook or MySpace. If your accounts haven't updated in an hour, check that you have entered the accurate login information for both accounts by logging in to PixelPipe and clicking "My Pipes" in the left-hand menu.
