How to Upload an Image to Yahoo! Contributor Network During Article Submission

The photo upload tool and corresponding Image Gallery were created to enhance the image submission, uploading, and sharing experience at Yahoo! Contributor Network. This simple, step-by-step guide explains how to use it during article submission. It may look fancy and daunting at first. But it's really not that difficult to figure out.

Enter Your Text
The text portion of your article will be displayed before you get to the photo upload tool. Once you do everything in the upper section, the photo upload tool is the next part of the article submission process. It is located underneath the text template in a heading labeled "Images". You can actually complete the steps on that page in any order you wish. So feel free to upload the image/s first if you choose.

Photo Choices
Once you click "add image", you have the choice to choose "Upload File" or "Browse Library". Choosing "Upload File" will allow you to choose an image from your own computer. If you've ever uploaded any photos at Yahoo! Contributor Network, they will show up under "My Gallery" if you choose "Browse Library". From this section, you can choose a photo from "My Gallery" or "Public Gallery". Decide which option you will go with and use the following instructions for that option. Be sure that any photos you upload adhere to the Image Submission Guidelines.

Attaching Photos to Your Article From Your Gallery
To choose a photo for your article that is already in your gallery, simply click on that photo. It automatically attaches and will show a preview. If you change your mind after attaching an image, don't worry. It can be deleted by clicking the red arrow on the photo. If you are using more than one photo, once you upload them, you may also drag and drop them to change the display order. You may use up to 5 images with each article. If you need more than that, you should create a slideshow instead. When you are satisfied, finish up with the the article submission process.

Attaching Photos to Your Article from the Public Gallery
Attaching images from the Public Gallery is almost the same as attaching them from your own gallery. Once you click to attach an image, click on Public Gallery, which is a tab located inside the gallery of the photo upload tool. Once these pictures load, you may choose from those displayed or search for one that better suits your submission. To search, enter a search term in the text field displayed underneath the photo folders. Then, click on filter. This will display all photos tagged with that word or with that word in the description, credit, or copyright area. This means you also can search for photos from a specific Contributor. Be sure that all images you choose from this section appear to have come from one of the approved sources listed in the Image Submission Guidelines. Once you have chosen your image, follow the same uploading instructions as with your own gallery. Finish up with the submission process.

Attaching Photos to Your Article By Uploading a New Photo
In addition to choosing pre-existing photos, you may also opt to upload a new photo. When doing this, be sure that your photo follows the Image Submission Guidelines. Instead of choosing the gallery option after "add image", click on "Upload File". Once it loads, click "browse" to locate an image on your computer. Double click the item to select it. Now fill in the appropriate credit and copyright information, a description of the photo, and search tags. The last step is to choose whether you wish to release this photo into the public gallery so that others may use it on their articles as well. Only choose this option if you have the rights to distribute the photo. Then, click "save and close." Now you may finish the submission process with your images attached.
