To be able to upload waypoints/coordinates, you must first install the third party program called EasyGPS. It is a free program that enables you to visualize, save and upload these waypoints. This is a very easy-to-use program used by thousands of geocachers.
You also must be a premium member of Geocaching.com to create the "pocket queries" in the correct format. The premium membership is very inexpensive and totally worth every penny. Besides being able to download .gpx files, there are many other benefits including better maps, calculating caches on a route, etc.
Very simply, you are going to create a pocket query and download it to your computer. After your .gpx file is downloaded, you will open it with EasyGPS, and then use EasyGPs to send the individual waypoints to your GPSr.
On Geocaching.com, navigate to the New Pocket Query page. Build your query and run it. Download your query to your computer. Unzip the downloaded file if necessary and save the .gpx file to your computer's desktop.
Open EasyGPS. If it is the first time you have used the program, you must tell EasyGPS which GPSr you are using by going to the "My GPS Receiver" tab under "Preferences" and choose your make and model of GPsr. Next, drag your .gpx file to any of the EasyGPS windows. You will see your waypoints load into EasyGPS.
Make sure your GPSr is plugged into your computer. Click the send button on the EasyGPS menu. Your waypoints will be immediately sent to your GPSr. Keep in mind that many GPSr's will organize the waypoints by the waypoint number. Geocaching.com's waypoint numbers begin with "GC" followed by the rest of the number, i.e. GC1GMQ4. To keep track of waypoint/cache names, you can print a list of the data in EasyGPS. 500 waypoints will produce about three pages of data. This list will not give you all the cache information, but will give you basic information that you may need on the trail.
The waypoints are now uploaded into your GPS receiver. Depending on the number of waypoints your GPS will hold, you can continue to upload waypoints or geocaches for an area or while you are on the road.
