Balloon bouquets are a fun spin on the traditional floral bouquet. While they aren't as easy to make, they are tons of fun and will impressive any recipient.
How to Make a Valentine's Day Balloon Bouquet
Like any bouquet, you'll need a vase in which to put your balloon bouquet. If you don't have a vase, you can use other materials around the house, such as an empty plant pot or metal basket. Just make sure that the vase is heavy enough to hold down the balloons, or that you will tie your balloons to a weight, if using helium. You don't want it floating off. If using a plant pot, paint it pink or red with hearts using heart stencils or paint polka dots. Another easy idea is to simply cover it with shiny paper.
Next you'll need to select the materials you intend to put in your bouquet. Pink and red tissue paper, ribbons, bows and faux flowers are great additions to a Valentine's Day bouquet. You'll also need about a dozen balloons in your preferred colors, including modeling balloons and regular balloons.
If your children are small, it may be a good idea to stick with one balloon flower. Using two modeling balloons, green for the stem and any color for the flower, create a balloon flower by reviewing the helpful tutorial found HERE. Once you've created your flower, if you feel that your flower looks too bare, use tissue paper or paper roses to give complete your bouquet. If your kids are particularly crafty, then make a true Valentine's Day balloon bouquet using a variety of various balloons at staggered lengths. Make an easy balloon decoration to compliment your balloon flower by twisting a modeling balloon around a regular balloon. Or twist the modeling balloon first and then set the regular balloon on top of it. Then repeat, using different colored balloons. For the second set, make the regular balloon smaller to give a staggered, fuller look to your bouquet.
