Are you looking for a craft to make a gift for the gardener in your life? Why not make them a Valentine's Day plant pot? This craft is simple and easy to do. This craft can be easily completed in an afternoon, and then you'll have time to transplant a plant into the pot for easy gift giving.

For this craft you will need

a terra cotta planter and saucer

craft paint in colors that you prefer (at least two). Valentine's Day colors ideally are red, pink and white

foam brushes

stamps, not rubber stamps (ask at the craft store if you need help). A great shape for a stamp is a heart, or a cherub for Valentine's Day or even an "X" and an "O".

a plant for transplanting

Select the size terra cotta pot according to the plant you would like to transplant. This craft is very challenging to do if there is already a plant in the pot while you are doing the craft.

Begin by laying out newspapers to protect the surface that you are working on. Lay out the rest of your supplies.

Paint the pot in the color that you would like it. Give the pot two coats of paint. Allow the paint to dry. You only need to paint the outside of the pot. The easiest way to paint the pot is to turn the pot upside down and then to paint it.

Once the pot is dry then it is time to stamp it. Pour the contrasting paint out on a paper plate and get your stamp. Put your stamp in the paint and then stamp a design on the pot. Stamp the pot as much as you like. Some people like to stamp the pot a lot, and other people like a more minimalistic design. Just be creative with it.

Some great ideas for Valentine's Day stamps are to get a heart stamp, or perhaps a cherub stamp. Another idea is to get an "X" stamp and an "O" stamp for kisses and hugs. Or you could even stamp "Happy Valentine's Day" or "Be Mine" or "I Love You" all over the plant pot. Whatever you think the person you are giving the plant to might like.

Once you have completed stamping, allow the pot to dry. This will probably take at least twenty minutes, perhaps even more time. Once the pot is completely dry then you can transplant the plant to go in the pot. Then the Valentine's Day plant pot is ready for gift giving. Happy Valentine's Day!
