How to Get Video Editing Jobs

Here are several tips on how to get video editing jobs.

Offer to Enhance Home Videos

Many home videos are recorded each year that include excessive motion or scenes that are out of focus. Offer a video service to average citizens that include repairs and enhancements on their home videos. This is one of the easiest ways to get video editing jobs on a steady basis. There are numerous clients who may have several home videos of birthday celebrations, graduations, proms, weddings and other special occasions. Charge a flat fee to edit home videos, removing unfocused scenes and placing the remaining footage one smooth presentation.

Send Video Demo Reels to Filmmakers

Thousands of filmmakers post video editing jobs online through film related message boards and local commissions, which provides a good resource to find work. Send a video demo reel to filmmakers that you meet at film festivals, networking events and online. This reel should be on DVD and feature work from your latest video editing jobs along with contact information that potential clients can use. The opportunities to get video editing jobs will depend on your knowledge of software programs and graphics. The film industry can be a lucrative and reliable way to find editing jobs on short and feature length films.

Digital Video Forums

There are dozens of online video and film message boards that post video editing jobs for their members including filmmaking.net, DVXuser and Indieclub. Joining one or two digital video forums can help to get jobs in your industry. Membership to online message boards is usually free of charge depending on the communities you choose to participate in. Some digital video magazines such as DV and Videomaker also manage online message boards that list video editing jobs. A lot of the members in digital video forums will be searching for the same jobs but you can find opportunities to join the editing department on larger productions. These online video message boards are also a good way to pick up editing jobs from other professionals who have too much work on their schedule.

Apply for jobs at Post-Production Facilities

Companies that work in the post-production or special effects field are prime sources of video editing jobs. While it may not be easy to get a job at Pixar studios, video professionals can find full-time, part-time and freelance positions at local post-production companies. Many of these facilities usually provide services to advertising agencies and other corporate clients. Be prepared to work on commercials, music videos, corporate projects and many other jobs that may not be as exciting as movies.

If you try to find a video editing job, this link can help you http://www.librarycrossing.com. Because found my editing job in this page, is very easy to get a job and only shows them from employer websites and from other job board too. Other advantage is that these jobs aren´t advertised.
