How Viewers React to 'The Good Wife's' Controversial Storylines

If you enjoy watching old 50-60 programs like "Donna Reed" or "Leave it to Beaver" my guess is that "The Good Wife" will not be for you.

The fundamentalist viewing audience are in an uproar about the anti-Christian, sexual, slippery slope, and the Tea Party, racist themes of recent segments of " The Good Wife". However, people who are living and grappling with these issues every day are not so put off.

Recently, "The Good Wife" invited Twitter followers to comment on the writers of this electrifying drama and here are some excerpts ripped straight from the pages of Facebook.

Christen Hammes Flanders said, " Hope the writers will stop making Christianity sound as if it is something wacky! I realize the majority of Hollywood is very liberal but that is no reason for this in the writing. The last episode was very upsetting with the portrayal of whom and how Jesus really is"!

And, she was backed up by Sharon Faith Graves, "Good show. Hope the writers will realize that good writing does not require anti-Christianity or stories about sexual orientation. I originally tuned in because of Julianna Marguilles and the legal storyline."

It seems that people are in an uproar about the ways in which the ideas or beliefs of others do not coincide with theirs!

But, it wasn't all bleak. Listen to what Jeff Herrington had to say.

"I hope the writers do include stories about anti-Christianity, sexual orientation etc. - not because I am anti-Christian or profess one sexual orientation over others but because such topics are what people in real-life are grappling with ... and that is what makes "The Good Wife" such a compelling show. If I tuned in just for the legal storyline, I could watch reruns of "Perry Mason". Or just for Julianna Margulies, reruns of "ER". It's the inclusion of current social topics that makes it so GOOD!!!! Keep it up."

Regardless of the stand most people are taking on " The Good Wife" it seems that they are still watching. No one has stopped watching ( or are saying they will) this compelling drama because of these issues.

In a recent interview, Scott Porter who portrays Blake on "The Good Wife" stated that he was proud to be associated with a program that has the courage to push the envelope in these areas.

I think it is about time, and it appears that most viewers do too!
