What you will need:
1 yard of Vintage Silk or Vintage Inspired Silk (6.00 - 15.00 a yard)
An oblong or rectangle wood box (You can also use an old jewelry box with a lid)
Fabric Glue
Small mirror
Quilt Batting (5.99 a yard)
A yard of white cotton
Cardboard or plywood
You will want to make sure your plain box is clean free of any dust or dirt which makes it harder for material to stick to the box. Then you will want to take a piece of the quilt batting and measure it by the top of the box cut three pieces this size. You will want to dot the top with fabric glue and place the batting on top. Then you will want to do this to the inside bottom and the inside of the lid. Let dry.
Next you will want to take the cotton place under the box, pull the lid off, pull the cotton up and fold over inside cut the cotton so the material will fold completely inside but not overlap to the bottom over the batting. Now pull the cotton out at start dotting the fabric glue all over the bottom of the box and sides. Pull up the cotton again tight and smooth over the sides, fold at the corner, put glue on fold and an press against side to hold down. Once the material is completely smooth and tight over bottom and sides do the same to the lid of the soon to be vintage jewelry box. Once dry, dot one side with fabric glue. Start on one end and place the white cotton onto the box, then slowly smooth the rest down. Work your way to the next side and repeat process. There will be excess material at corner this is just fine just take excess material place fabric glue on the side and then fold over and smooth onto box. Once that is done do the same to the lid and let dry.
Next you want to start the process all over but with the silk fabric. However there is a different you do not want to put fabric glue over the lid top or over the sides of the box. You want the fabric glue to be on the outside bottom of the jewelry box, and the inside walls of top and bottom. You will likely have to do this one side at a time and fold the excess material into gathers and then glue to the inside bottom or top. Do not stress on how the top and the bottom look that will be covered. Let the box dry completely once all the material has been placed.
The next step is to take the sheet of cardboard and cut to the size of the lid of the box, then repeat this so you have 2. Then trim a little off to make sure it is smaller than the inside of the box. You then want to take the batting and wrap each piece of cardboard and glue the batting on. One side needs to be smooth and the other does not. Wrap what is left of the silk around and glue on one side only. Once these pieces are dry you can place one piece in the bottom of the box. If you feel like gluing it you can. For the top where you glued the fabric on the cardboard place more fabric glue over the whole side and then push up into the lid and let dry. Once dry you can add a small mirror to the top or decorations. Once done you will have yourself a Silk Vintage Jewelry box.
