The thing that I like most about this shabby chic kitchen cabinet resurfacing project is that you get to control the colors. I can make some recommendations, but you will have to decide!

Now, go ahead and prime and paint your kitchen cabinets in any color you want. I am recommending white for a true shabby chic look.

If your cabinets are already painted, then you can move on to this next step.

Now, measure how wide your kitchen cabinet doors are. Measure each drawer and door. You will need one piece of lace to fit each one exactly.

Now, the lace used here is that vinyl stuff you find in the fabric store. I find it all the time in the vinyl tablecloth material area. Choose any lace you would like.

Use some sharp scissors to cut out panels of lace that fir the whole front of your kitchen cabinets.

If your kitchen cabinets have recessed areas or trim, then only use the lace on the inside of the flat panel.

Now, use painter's tape to attach these lace panels to the front of each kitchen cabinet door and drawer,

Use tape at the top bottom and sides.

Now, break out that stencil brush and pour some of your accent paint into a paint tray.

Now, if you cabinets are white, use a cream accent paint. The idea for this accent paint is that it should either be one or two shades lighter or darker than your kitchen cabinets.

So, if you wanted vintage yellow kitchen cabinets, you could use pale gold 1 on the kitchen cabinets as the base color and pale gold #3 from Laura Ashley as the lace accent color. To make it easy on you choose two paint colors from the same paint stick.

Now, lightly dip your stencil brush in the paint. Dab some off and then dab on the paint on top of the "lace" lightly. Paint the entire cabinet, then immediate carefully removes the lace.

Move on to resurfacing the next kitchen cabinet. Repeat these steps until each cabinet has been painted!

Let this vintage lace paint dry and reinstall you kitchen cabinet hardware and you are finished!
