How to Make a Vision Board and Manifest Abundance

Principles of the Law of Attraction

Vision Boards have existed for hundreds of years in one form or another, but have gained popularity after the release of the DVD The Secret. John Asaraff demonstrated his use of vision boards in the documentary and later published the Complete Vision Board Kit complete with CD and filled with ideas for making your vision board. Although the concept of visualizing your future and taking action to bring it to reality is not new, renewed interest in this powerful technique to manifest the desires of your heart has swept the nation and brought remarkable changes to the lives of millions of Americans.

The principles of The Secret and vision boards are simple yet powerful tools for making positive change to your life. Based on the premise that thoughts become reality, and that what we receive in life is the result of our thoughts, beliefs and the actions, the secret teaches that manifesting our desires lies in creating the image of what we desire, visualizing our life as though we already have it, believing it is possible and acting on those beliefs.

Creating a vision board is an effective way to use the principles of the law of attraction to manifest abundance in your life. Not only does it get you involved in a hands-on project, it forces you to focus on the positive changes and the abundance you desire in your life. This simple process puts your beliefs in action to manifest abundance in all areas of your life. Posted in a visible area, your vision board provides the perfect prompt for visualizing your future filled with abundance.

Begin by identifying the things you want in life. For many happiness tops the list, but to attract happiness you need to be more specific. Think of the times when you feel the happiest and consider what contributes to that feeling. If you are like most people, and I am sure you are, many things contribute to the magical feeling we refer to as happiness. Solid relationships, secure finances, opportunities to pursue hobbies or vocations you love, spiritual and emotional growth and health all contribute to happiness.

Browse through magazines to find images and words to symbolize your wishes. Although you may not know what kind of house you want or the exact career you choose to pursue, cut out an image of a house that appeals to you to represent your dream house and image of a successful business person to represent a successful career. What the image represents and how it makes you feel is more important that the actual image.

Pay attention to advertisements. Advertisers use brightly colored images and colorful words to sell their products. Take advantage of their hard work and clip images and words to form your own collage for your vision board. Combine words to create phrases to express your desires.

Clip anything and everything that provokes strong positive emotions and inspires you. Don't worry that your dreams seem too big. When sending your message to the universe there is no such thing as too big. The universe doesn't know the difference between a tiny wish and a gigantic one. That is simply the working of the human mind.

Clear off the table and layout your poster board. Foam board is an option, but for your first vision board, keeping it simple makes the process easier. Experiment with your images by laying them out on the board. It may be tempting to glue them in place right away, but waiting allows you to rearrange images until the board is visually appealing and expresses your heart's desires.

I created my first vision board (see the image accompanying this article) by dividing the poster board in loose sections for different areas of my life. I have plans to create smaller boards that focus on one or two areas like career, health and family but this vision board served the purpose to get me started.

Arrange images with plenty of white space around them. Boards that are too crowded do not allow the eye to focus on individual images. Remove all but the most important images and save the extra clippings for future boards. Paste the images in place once you are satisfied with the layout.

Add words and phrases that express the fulfillment of your desires. Remember to phrase these as though they already exist. Based on the principles of The Secret, it is important to act as though your dreams have been fulfilled in order to manifest change in your life.

Post the vision board in a highly visible location to remind you of your goals. Many prefer to post vision boards near the computer or work area. I chose to post mine by my bedside so it is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night, but I soon discovered that it was out of sight for the majority of the day. To compensate for this, I took pictures of the vision board and used it as the background on my computer screen.

Spend time everyday visualizing your life with the qualities you have represented on your vision board. Imagine your goals have been fulfilled and your life overflows with abundance. Feel the joy and satisfaction of knowing your dreams will manifest in your life as a result of your beliefs.

Make a note of positive things that happen once you begin visualizing your future. You may experience unexpected blessings right away, but don't get discouraged if you don't see dramatic changes the very next day. Keep visualizing and blessings will manifest in your life. Be open to new possibilities and opportunities and you may soon find yourself living the life you thought you could only dream about.
