I recently found myself in need of phone service, so I decided to sign up for a new phone line through Vonage. Although the monthly price was much cheaper than Verizon, I was surprised to see that Vonage charges a $29.99 activation fee for new lines. Verizon doesn't charge an activation fee. I was a little upset about having to pay the $30 activation fee to Vonage, but I needed phone service so I was about to pay it. But before I did I searched the internet to see if it was possible to get a new Vonage line with no activation fee.
I'm glad I decided to do that internet search, because it turns out there is a way to avoid paying Vonage an activation fee for new service. It is part of their "Refer-a-Friend" program-if another Vonage customer "refers" you to sign up, not only is your $30 activation fee waived, but your first month of service is free! All you need to participate is your friend or family member's current Vonage number. When you provide their phone number during sign-up, Vonage will recognize you as part of the Refer-A-Friend program and will discount your activation fee down to zero on the final order screen.
If you check with your family or friends, chances are that at least one of them has a current Vonage phone number you can use for a referral. On the off chance that no one you know has Vonage service, just do a quick internet search for "Vonage refer-a-friend." There are lots of folks on the internet that will be happy to provide you with their Vonage number for a referral. Not only will you avoid paying Vonage a $30 activation fee and get your first month of service free, the person who referred you will also get a free month of Vonage service. The Vonage Refer-A-Friend program really is a "win-win" situation for everyone!
