After getting the things that you need, you will need to decide if you are going to paint the wood or stain it. This will depend on what you will use for the décor. If using the stencil you will problemaly want to stain it. When using paint you don't want it to look thick. Of course you can just out line the picture or use markers on the paint which would keep it from being thick. Also markers work better on the painted wood then stain. If you decide to paint the piece, light colors work well.
These items can be purchased at different places, but a craft store is your best bet. Some places do not carry all these items, so the craft store would be a one stop shop.
Now you are ready to start your project by smoothing the wood by sanding it to make sure there are no splinters on it. If you choose to use the rub-ons make sure that you rub them slowly that they don't tare but enough that there are no bubbles under it. If using the stickers or others that will need to be glued down, you want be more careful because they are wet and will tare easier then the others. You only want to use a thin layer of glue around the outer edge of the picture and a very small amount in the inner part so it doesn't push out the sides as you smooth them down. Again you will need to smooth it so there are no bubbles under them also. BE CAREFUL not to tare. If you choose the stencil you will need to use a light stain or paint so to be able to see the print. This will be your choice.
After you have completed the hanging, if wet it has dried then you will want to spray it with lacquer or another wood finish on it. Next comes the hanging part which you also can get at the craft store or hardware store. Place it on the back or use a small drill to make a hole to hang it with. Now it is finished and ready to hang.
