How to Warm an Eyeliner

A hard eyeliner tip may break off or injure your eye. When an eyeliner tip hardens, it will not give you the smooth lines you need. Constantly sharpening your pencil will waste your product-and your money! Try these two warming methods to warm up the tip of eyeliner and get deep, rich color. Warming Method #1

Wash your hands thoroughly with liquid antibacterial soap. This step will reduce the chances of catching an infection in your eyes. Dry the hands well then remove the lid from your pencil eyeliner. Unscrew the pencil so that the tip pokes out about ¼ inch.

Gently roll the tip between your thumb and forefinger. Hold the tip, allowing your body heat to melt the pencil wax slightly. Do this for about 10 seconds. Apply your liner as usual then wash your hands again.

Warming Method #2

The second method for warming eyeliner is even quicker. This method works best on wooden pencils but any will do. Sharpen the tip of your wooden pencil until it is about ½ inch long. If you have a mechanical pencil, screw the tip up by turning the base of the pencil.

Light a candle or a lighter. Pass the tip through the flame for 1 to 2 seconds. Do not burn or melt your eyeliner. Turn the pencil around and dip the opposite side of the tip through the flame. This will make the tip softer and give you deeper color.

Allow the tip to cool about 15 to 30 seconds before using it. Do not blow on the tip or touch it unless you have first washed your hands. Apply the liner as you normally do.

Store your eyeliner pencil with the lid on or place the pencil in a storage bag to prevent it from drying out.
