There are two ways you can wash it, you can either have the lace wig still attached to your head and wash it that way or wait until you remove it to treat it. The sure best way is to wash it while it is off your head to ensure proper care while washing and avoid getting your real hair wet under the unit which can be unsanitary. When you are washing your hair you want to be very careful and not pull or tug, gently comb through with a wide tooth comb before getting it wet to make sure there are no tangles. A good way is to fill the sink with cool water and dip your hair in the water to get it wet, then you will add some shampoo and gently rub downwards on your wig, no rubbing. Once you are done, dip the hair a few times in the water filled sink. Make sure the water is nice and cool, never use hot water to wash your hair. Once your hair has been shampooed, empty the sink filled water and fill it with fresh cool water to rinse. It is recommended that you use shampoo and conditioner that is made specially for lace wigs . You can find special shampoo on sites such as For Girls Like Us ( FGLU) which sells lace wigs, hair care solution for wigs and other products to ensure proper care for your wigs. Repeat the same method with a conditioner and pat dry with a towel when done, remember no rubbing.
Once done, let hair air dry on Styrofoam head wig stand which is used for drying your hair and to maintain the shape of your wig. Do not comb it or blow dry while your hair is on the head stand, this will ruin your unit. Once hair is completely dried, use a wide tooth comb to gently comb through the hair and apply your hair moisturizer of choice to keep your hair looking shiny.
