First, check with your friends, and even relatives. Chances are at least one of them will be a sports lover, and they are probably even interested in the same teams as you. You can set aside one or two afternoons a week, or a couple nights here and there to join your friend while watching these games. To be considerate, offer to purchase beverages and food if you have the money - this will make the host more likely to want you back in the future.
You can also go to your local tavern or sports pub, too. More establishments like this are now offering smoke free environments as well as separate smoking sections, along with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Most of these restaurants also have great deals going on during sports games, too. Even if you show up by yourself, you don't have to worry about watching the game alone - there is no doubt you'll be able to find several fans to help cheer on your favorite team.
Also, more sports broadcasts are being streamed either live, or through archived footage on the World Wide Web, too. Not only are these broadcasts in high quality, but they are generally available for you to download and watch completely free of charge. Of course, you'll still have an internet bill to pay every month, but depending on how often you watch sports and how much you value the entertainment, the cost of internet (which is becoming more affordable each and every day) just may be worth it for you.
If none of these options are appealing to you as a sports fan, you can always go and check out the local sporting events live and in person. Events like this are usually quite inexpensive, and a great way to relax on an afternoon; be it with your friends or family or even by yourself. Many professional sports teams even offer tickets for as low as $10 - for live sports entertainment, you simply can't beat that price.
So if you are living without cable television, or even if you are living without a television set altogether, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on all of your favorite sports programs. You may need to sacrifice a few here and there, but if you put your mind to it you can catch nearly every game that is important to you.
