Depression is turning out to be one of the most chronic diseases in modern times. There is no particular cause for depression. Depression could occur due to any small incident or happening in life. Depression in itself is a very harmful state of the mind. Extreme depression and helplessness could also lead to suicidal tendencies. Since a depressed person is completely sad and low, they lose the stamina to fight on in life, they feel life is not worth living; hence many depressed people commit suicide or kill themselves in this state. The mind is not in control and hence a depressed person does not know what to do or is confused on how to tackle their depression, so the easiest option available to them seems to be death.
Depression brings with it an inferiority complex, a feeling of being worthless. It is very crucial to have a healthy mind in order to stay fit. Depression is one of the main reasons that people lose confidence and interest in themselves and start neglecting their body. Dependency on alcohol or drugs is another after affect of depression as they feel that when they are on drugs or alcohol it would be easy to forget their pain or depression for sometime.
Depression can occur anytime, any place and with anyone of any age, gender and backgrounds. There is no one protected against this harmful state of mind. It is very important to speak to someone when you are depressed rather than cut yourself off from your friends and loved ones. When you speak to someone you would feel lighter and you could work out a solution to overcome your depression. It is essential not to ignore any signs of depression as if not tackled at the root level it could turn severe and get out of control.
There are a lot of anti depressants that the doctors prescribe to people who are depressed. It is hence very important to visit a good psychologist or counselor who could help you get out of this state of mind. The most common reasons a person could get depressed are due to a fight or argument with someone at home, work or your friends. With marriages and relationships falling apart so easily these days, the number of cases of depression is rising. It is therefore every important to not run away from a situation and handle it there on, communication could be a key element in making a depressed person feel better. Life is very precious, we cannot guarantee happiness always but we can at least strive to live a depression free life by having cordial relations with people around us. Don't let negative criticism hinder your spirit, be a fighter and go on and you are bound to succeed.
