How to Wear Gold Makeup

All that glitters is....gold makeup. You may not be in a position to splurge on a sparkly holiday outfit, but you may be able to splurge on a little sparkle for your face. And gold, shimmery makeup is just the thing to help you look festive and be right on trend for the holiday season. If you're worried about overdoing the shine, don't be. Here's a few tips and tricks to help you add just the right amount of sparkle to your holiday makeup.

Eye liner. The easiest way to add a little golden sparkle to your makeup look is with a pretty, golden eyeliner. If you're worried about being too over the top, just look for an eyeliner that has a hint of shimmer instead of glitter. If you want to go all out, find a liquid eyeliner in gold glitter to give you the most sparkle. Line just the bottoms of your eyes with the gold eyeliner, or line just the top lids with a wide line and finish with a coat of mascara. For a night out on the town, line your eyes with black liner then line them again with your liquid gold glitter eyeliner for a look that just won't quit.

Eye shadow. If you have green eyes, a golden eye shadow will look beautiful on you. Lean towards a shimmery gold if you are more conservative, but if you want a look that pops, go for all out sparkles in your golden shadows. Line your eyes with a rich bronze color and don't forget the mascara.

Golden gloss. The least obtrusive way to wear gold this season is with a golden lip gloss. Wear it alone or over top of your favorite lipstick. The golden flecks will be right on trend but still soft and subtle.

Nail color. If you're feeling adventurous but don't like the idea of gold on your face, go for a golden, glowing manicure. The glittery the better. Short, squoval shaped nails look best with an eye catching nail color such as gold. Long or pointed nails tend to look like daggers in colors that aren't neutral hues. Keep an extra bottle handy for touch-ups when needed.

Hair tinsel. With the feather extension trend still going strong, don't be afraid to branch out into a bit of hair tinsel. The principal of the extensions is still the same, but instead of feathers, you'll be adding a few lengths of golden glitter to your hair. Look for clip in extensions so that you can take them out when the party's over - or when you're tired of them, whichever comes first.

Body shimmer. For the most subtle golden glow, try a shimmery body lotion with just a hint of golden flecks. You're skin will look beautiful in candlelight without looking like you got in a fight with a bottle of glitter. A softly scented lotion will make you smell as good as you look.

So if you're ready to sparkle, don't be afraid to try this season's golden hues. Find a shade and a style that suits you, whether it's over the top shine or just a hint of shimmer. You'll be golden and gorgeous.
