Layer a Pastel Scarf Over a Dark Turtleneck. This is one of my favorite ways to wear a scarf in the winter. A casual outfit of a black or dark brown turtleneck and jeans can quickly become a look to remember after layering a pink, lavender or light green scarf over the sweater. Choose one that has some length so that the ends drape down to the waist. Neutral colored boots and a blazer complete this very pretty and seasonal outfit.
Add a Short Scarf to a Tee Shirt and Jeans. A plain white tee can be radically dressed up with the addition of a bold patterned scarf tied around the neck. Choose a bright color or a fun pattern to instantly give the ensemble some real flair. Finish off the outfit with a dark colored pair of jeans and ballerina flats or biker boots.
Add Some Visual Appeal to a Simple Dress. We all have our little black dresses that we simply can't live without. If you are looking for a way to freshen up that same old same old look, drape a gorgeous silk scarf around your neck. The color and pattern of the accessory will give your dress a pop and the material will add a touch of sophistication and elegance.
Use a Scarf as a Belt With Skinny Jeans. A form fitting shirt and skinny jeans can be a very alluring look. The addition of a cute makeshift belt can instantly turn the outfit into something fabulous. Choose a dark colored form fitting shirt or sweater and pair it with your favorite pair of skinny jeans. Instead of your usual belt, thread a pretty scarf through the belt loops and knot it at your waist. This up to the minute look will definitely bump up the style factor of your outfit.
Pair a Short Scarf With a White Button Down Shirt. If you generally wear a white men style shirt with dark trousers during the Fall and Winter, you probably add some flash to your neckline with a pretty necklace. Leave the jewelery at home one day and tie a short scarf around your neck instead. Choose a paisley or polka dot pattern to make your look very hip and trendy. A pair of great flats and a great handbag will complete this very fun and stylish ensemble.
Experiment With Different Knots. There are many different ways you tie a scarf. Work with the length and pattern of your accessory to see how it best complements each individual outfit. Some styles will look best with a tight knot at the neck, while others will be more enhanced by allowing the sides to hang loose. Changing up the way you knot your favorite scarves will also put your own personal stamp on all your cold weather outfits.
