Tartan, (or plaid) print clothes come in a rainbow of colors, but the most popular are red and blue prints. These are very classic prints, and are synonymous with autumn and 'back to school'. If you want to pay homage to your plaid, 'schoolgirl' days but don't want to look like jail bait, opt for a pair of tartan print capri pants as opposed to a mini skirt. Wear a white short sleeved, button up blouse with your capris and a pair of black ballet flats with a sweet black headband and you will have an updated take on your school days! Solid black shell and cardigan sets also look great with tartan capris, and gold jewelry such as a large bangle cuff completes the look.
Blouses and tops in plaid prints are very hot this year. Many stores such as Dillards and Kohl's carry tartan print blouses in a variety of colors and styles. Plaid blouses in chiffon are great for wearing to the office with basic black slacks, and tops made of cotton or flannel are fantastic for wearing with jeans and flat suede boots.
Accessories in tartan prints such as scarves and hats are very popular this winter, and these can be worn with virtually anything. Tartan scarves in fun, girly colors such as pink and baby blue look great with winter white, and bright colored ones look fantastic with brown and basic black. A really cute look for wintertime is to combine a tartan print scarf with a cute hat in the same color. Some stores carry belts and sashes in plaids, and these make nice little Scottish touches to your all-American look. The website ScotlandShop.net sells more tartan print clothes and accessories than anyplace else online. Here you will find virtually any fashion item from hats to skirts (and even bathing suits!) in every color of the rainbow. Since this site is actually based out of Scotland, be prepared to pay for international shipping.
The great thing about classic tartan is that it never goes out of style. For decades, the print has been in vogue for the fall and winter seasons, and doesn't appear to be going out of style anytime soon. Tartan is a fashion investment, and a pattern you can wear for years to come without ever having to worry about it becoming dated.
