How to Make Wedding Scrapbook Gift

Shawna Smith
Giving a bridal shower scrapbook is a new trendy present for your best friend when she marries. Gone are the days of a toaster for a wedding present. It is important to give gifts that will be treasured. Whilst you can make a bridal scrapbook for anyone, it would have give to a good friend, as it will take a lot of time and thought to get it just right. A bridal scrapbook is a truly unique gift that will provide a lasting memorial to what should be the happiest day of her life.

Bridal showers are a celebration of marriage but for the person involved with the planning they can be a headache. However, if you are aware that you are planning a scrapbook at the start of the preparation, it could not be easier.

Write out an extra dummy invitation, preferably to your self (that way you do not get ant any extra guests). Place the invitation in the front of the book, write a reply, and post it as well. Write a covering letter and Photostat the template and mail to all the guests. The letter should explain your desire to make a memorable bridal scrapbook. Ask the guests who are unable to attend to

1. Write a paragraph explaining how they met the future bride!

2. Send a photograph of the bride and themselves. E mailing and digital cameras has made this job a lot easier.

3. If you are planning a cookery book, ask them to send a photograph or the recipe of the favorite dish, which they share with the bride.

This makes an ideal method for the bride to keep memories on one place. These can be shared at the shower itself, as many of the attendees will know one another.

If the guests are attending just ask for a photograph, at the party itself leave a piece of paper and a pen at every place, and ask the guests to write the story of how they met. The favorite recipe can also be added to the scrapbook. If the bride does not cook then the scrapbook may be personalized in other ways, ask them for a favorite joke or a cocktail recipe. Other ways to make them personal is to get the mum's to supply photographs of the couple as individual babies. Consider mailing the guests the paper so that the overall completed look will be color coordinated. Alternatively use a computer to make them look the same by retyping them. However, in today's world a hand written note is so rare that it may be a nice touch to compile them as they were.

The scrapbook itself can be as simple or as complex as you would like to make it. You can start with the engagement, or even go back to the first Christmas the couple celebrated together. The scrapbook can finish at the wedding or you can paste empty pages fro the honeymoon, the couple's first house, pet, child etc.

Other ideas for the book are for when the bride has registered her wedding at a specific store; if so take a photograph of the bride the store and the catalog. Take photographs of the venue for the shower before everyone has arrived to show off the decorations at their best. Do not forget the photos of the food, and food photographs display better as individual plates. Again, if the guests have provided the food themselves a copy of a recipe and why it was chosen may make a lovely addition to the guestbook.

When the future bride opens the gifts make sure that there is a photograph of each gift, coordinate these with each photograph of the person. This small detail in itself means that you do not have to compile a separate list to make thank you letters.

As well as photographing, the game make extra copies of the games sheets so that they can be included. Any thank you stationary can also be added. Scrap booking classes are held in many areas if this is your first attempt at a scrapbook. Alternatively use the library and view the efforts of others before beginning.

That's cool you do it every year.

This is a great gift idea! I did this for my own wedding in 2002 and have kept up the tradition so that every year I make a scrapbook as a wedding anniversary gift. Which reminds me, I need to make a start on the one for this year!
