How to Do Well on Kino Der Toten in Black Ops

Walter Kovacs
So you need help with Kino Der Toten in Call of Duty: Black Ops. First of all, let me say that these tactics are designed to work extremely well, but only if you are playing solo. If you are playing with friends, this is not a guide for you, because more people means that more Zombies will spawn and they will begin to flank you at earlier levels. So let us begin.

Round 1 and Round 2:
In the beginning of the game, it is essential to purchase "Quick Revive." This, from where you spawn, will be on your right. If you play the game with friends, you will know that Quick Revive is not available unless the power is turned on. In solo, this is different. Quick Revive allows you to revive yourself, and therefore can greatly help you if you make a mistake. After you have purchased Quick Revive, you will have no points, so kill the Zombies and gain more. I recommend knifing the Zombies, because you will get more points for doing so and will save ammunition. On Round 2, keep the strategy going. Between the levels, repair the barriers (you will get points for doing so).

Round 3 and 4:
At the beginning of round 3, walk up the stairs on the right side of the room and purchase the M14 off the wall. It is a carbine, and it can kill in 3 shots anywhere on the body. Later, when the Zombies get stronger, this weapon will become obsolete. Now, stand at the top of the stairs where you bought the M14 with your back to the wall and look down the stairs. As Zombies come up, shoot them and kill them. If they get more then 3/4th of the way up the stairs, move around and fire your weapon from the hip. Firing from the hip allows you to move faster, and not be caught by Zombies. Be aware, there is a window across the hallway, and if you are staring down the stairs, Zombies will come at you from the side and kill you, and you will not be able to fend them off, considering you can only kill two Zombies per clip of ammo in your M14. Do not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES switch to your pistol UNLESS you get Insta-Kill. Now that you are on Level 3, it will take more than 3 clips of ammo to kill a single Zombie. Once you complete Round 3, repair all the barriers. If you have gone down (which is a major possibility, considering how skilled of a player you are) purchase Quick Revive again. In Round 4, open the door behind you and move back into the next room. Line up Zombies as they come in from where you must were, and attempt to kill them by hitting collaterals, otherwise you will need to reload too often. If Zombies get to close, remember to fire from the hip. While firing from the hip, you can always move faster than even the fastest Zombie. Make sure to accumulate as many points as possible, because for this strategy to work, having 2250-2500 points by the end of this round is essential

Round 5:
This round will be a dogs round, and you must control the engagement with dogs, otherwise, you will be eliminated very very quickly. The first thing you have to do is open the door in the room you are currently in. Go down the stairs into the next room. The next room is sort of a landing with a lower floor. Go down the stairs on your right and purchase the MP40 off the wall at the bottom of the stairs (trade your pistol, not your M14). Now go up to the landing of this room and stand with your back to the wall (there should be a window on your left). Dogs will walk slowly, then sprint toward you once they see you. Kill the dogs in the order they begin to run at you, while making sure to, if you are hit by a dog, to quickly move around it to avoid getting hit a second time, causing you to drop. Hipfire only at dogs, because they move too fast for you to be able to follow them with the scope of your MP40. After you kill the last dog, there will be a "Max Ammo." Make sure to reload both weapons before picking it up. This will allow you to get all the possible ammo you can have.

Round 6:
What you will do in Round 6 depends on how many points you have.
If you have less than 2500 points:
Stay in the room you are currently in and fend off Zombies for one level. To keep from dying, fire only from the hip and aim for the upper half of Zombies, so that you may get headshots, but also get shots to the chest. Keep moving around. If you stand still, Zombies will come at you from both sides and you will be trapped. Remember that it takes 2 hits for you to go down, and therefore if you are hit, immediately run.
If you have 2500 points or more:
In the room you are currently in, there is a wooden slatted door. Open it up and move into the next room. Once you are inside, keep moving straight until the end of the hallway, then make a left and open up the next door. You will be on an auditorium stage. Walk over to the other end of the stage on the left side and you will see a big switch. Hold X on the Xbox 360 or Square on the PS3 to flip the switch. This will turn on the power and open the curtain for the stage. If you run between the aisles of chairs, you can get back to the room you began in. Also, where you flipped the switch, there was an M16 on the wall. Although I do not suggest purchasing it because it is not fully automatic, some people like it. The more important part of this is that there is a door just past the M16. DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. In later Rounds, Zombies will come through it and destroy you easily. By opening this door, you increase the amount of Zombies that will spawn by 20%, therefore causing you to be easily overpowered. Stay on this stage for Round 6 and deal with any resistance.

Round 7 On:
Purchase the Jugger-Nog when you can, and link the teleporter by standing inside it, Holding X, then running up to the pad on the floor in the room you spawned in and Holding X. This will allow you to teleport to upgrade weapons. You must link the teleporter every time you wish to use it. It also must cool, which takes one full round. Of all the doors you have opened, you have created a loop. Keep running this loop, while looking behind you at some of the "Choke Points" where Zombies line up perfectly behind each other. Once you have made this loop a few times, you will realized obviously where these points are. Also, find the Mystery Box. There is a map of Kino Der Toten in the auditorium. There are lights on it which tell you which room the Mystery Box is in. In the room where you spawned, there is another door. It is on the right side of the room if the Quick Revive Machine is on your right. If the box was not in the route that we have already created, open that door. If the box is not in there, open another door. This one will lead you outside. If the box is not outside, walk to the end of the alley and open the chain link door. Walk up the stairs and look in the room you are in for the box. If it has not been anywhere else, it is here. Do no open the door in this room, or else you will create the link that will increase Zombies by 20%. Buying weapons off the box is imperative to success. LMGs are the best choices, such as the RPK or the HK21 (my personal favorite). Once you have gotten good weapons, you should be able to survive up through about level 30 by running the circuit that I have showed you. Past there, good luck. Zombies become so strong that even upgraded LMGs aren't killing quickly and you have to resort to using traps (which are red boxes on the walls of the level). I wish you good luck, and I have given you all that I can,

Have fun killing Zombies!!!
