How to Make a Wheat Flour, Milk and Orange Juice Rejuvanating Face Mask

Hot summer weather can wreak havoc on otherwise healthy skin. Between exposure to the sun and contact with salt-laden sweat, the skin on your face can easily become dried out, tired looking and marred by unsightly acne. This can literally add years to your appearance while also making you uncomfortable.

There are numerous high priced creams and lotions that promise to alleviate these conditions, but most come with a hefty price tag. They are also often full of ingredients that most people can not pronounce, let alone recognize.

Luckily, making your own facial care products is much easier and less expensive than most people realize. I developed the following recipe to address multiple skin problems. It is designed to help clear up acne, remove dead skin while toning and tightening healthy skin. This mask also contains ingredients to moisturize the skin and anti-oxidants leaving your face refreshed with a youthful and healthy looking glow.

You will need the following containers and implements to prepare this recipe: 1 mixing bowl large enough to hold 3 cups of liquid; one large plastic or wooden mixing spoon; measuring cup; 1 tablespoon and 2 soft washcloths.

You will also need the following ingredients and implements to prepare this recipe: 1 cup of whole wheat flour (do not substitute with white flour); 1/3 cup of whole milk (whole milk will yield the best results); 4 tablespoons of orange juice

Begin making this recipe by mixing the whole wheat flour and the 1/3 cup of milk together in the mixing bowl. Be sure to stir the mixture very well, breaking up any clumps that form.

After completing the first step add the orange juice, 1 tablespoonful at a time, to the mixture. Stir the mixture after each addition taking care to break up any clumps that form.

Once you have mixed all of the ingredients together place the mixing bowl in the refrigerator to cool while you prepare your face for the mask.

To use this mask first cleanse your face with the cleanser of your choice, however I suggest you use a gentle one as the mask is formulated to exfoliate.

After cleansing your face remove the mixing bowl from the refrigerator and quickly apply a thick layer of the mask to your face and then put the remainder of the mixture back in the refrigerator. Leave the mask on for about 10 minutes.

Next, soak the soft washcloth in lukewarm water and wring it out thoroughly. Use the washcloth to rub the mask into your face using small circular motions with a medium amount of pressure. Pay special attention to the T-zone area and any other areas where you have blemishes.

When you are finished, rinse the mask off with lukewarm water. Next, examine your face. If you have any areas that still appear oily or still appear to have dry dead skin feel free to apply the rest of the mask and repeat the process. Otherwise save the remaining mask for use the next evening.

Preparing the recipe with the stated proportions will yield about 1 1/2 cups, enough for two masks. You can store the finished face mask in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

It is important that you use whole wheat flour in this recipe and do not substitute white flour. Whole wheat flour contains more fiber than white flour making it much better for exfoliation. Whole wheat flour is also high in vitamin E which is an important anti-oxidant for skin health.

For best results also use whole milk in the recipe rather than reduced fat or skim milk. the fat content of whole milk is excellent for moisturizing; it also contains more lactic acid which acts as a germicide helping to reduce acne.

The orange juice contained in the recipe is high in citric acid and vitamin C which well help tone and tighten skin and give it a healthy glow.

Please note that many natural ingredients can cause allergic reactions in people that use them. Avoid any ingredients that you know you are allergic to and discontinue using any formulations that cause skin irritation, hives or other signs of an allergic reaction.
