How and Where to Find 5 Pieces of Heart in Zelda Twilight Princess

Chris Tidwell
It's always a problem keeping your life gauge up in Zelda Twilight Princess, and one way to more use out of this life gauge, and to get more use out of your potions would be to increase the number of hearts you have. You do this each time you defeat a dungeon boss monster, but if you find five pieces of heart hidden throughout Hyrule you'll also be rewarded with an extra Heart Container, and this guide will lead you to exactly five of those pieces of heart. So whether you have no pieces at current, or need a few to make a complete set here is where you can locate five pieces of heart.

Location number 1, Fire Temple (Gorons Cavern): Once you acquire the Iron boots you'll be able to become magnetized and stick to certain walls and even the ceilings of certain areas. Well in the big room that you cling to ceiling in walk to the extreme back corner on the left side. Here you will find a place to take off your boots and drop to the floor. When you do there will be a huge treasure chest. Open this chest in order to obtain a Piece of Heart!

Location number 2, Outside North Kakariko Village: For this Piece of Heart you'll need the Claw Shot and the Bomb Arrow combination. Go to the North exit of Kakariko Village and look for the ledge with the large rock on top of it. Use a regular bomb (or bomb arrows) to blast this rock apart. Once you have done that run along the path and use the Claw Shot on the vines that lie ahead. Once you climb the vines look left and you'll see another set of vines with another rock blocking the top. Here you'll need to use your Bomb Arrow combination to blast this rock out of your path. Then use the Claw Shot to climb to the next ledge. Walk to the end of the cliff, turn left and look down. You'll see a treasure chest, so jump to it (or fall might be a more proper term). Now open the chest to obtain another Piece of Heart!

Location number 3, the Hot Springs of Kakariko Village: Yes another Heart Container around this village! Remember the springs where the light spirit talked to you? Well that's where you need to go, but there is a waterfall blocking the way and you need to get around. Look towards the entrance of the village and notice a huge rock suspiciously placed, bomb it! Now you'll have cleared a path to the top of the springs, so just follow and be prepared to change clothes. Once you reach to top of the spring you can look down into the water a notice an underwater hole that contains a treasure chest. Put on your Zora Armor and Iron Boots and go for a swim. Once at the bottom of this hole open the chest and you'll obtain another Piece of Heart!

Location number 4, Temple of Time: Ok this can only be done once you get the Dominion Rod. While your in the Temple of Time (After stepping through the door that makes the Temple look new again) you'll run down a flight of stairs. Now you can turn to face the stairs and notice that there are two small areas on either side. In each area there is an Owl stature that you must use the Dominion Rod to move. On one side you'll be able to take out a Poe Ghost, and on the other you'll be lead to through a small hallway and into a back area that contains a treasure chest, which in turn contains a Piece of Heart!

Location number 5, Faron Forest: Again this can only be done once you have the Dominion Rod. You'll notice that you have to find all the owl statues hidden around Hyrule in order to continue your quest, so this might be a good time to snag this little treasure. When you move the stature in the Faron Forest you may have noticed the hole under the tree. Well you may have guessed that you need to move the Owl stature into this small hole, and then transform into a wolf. Then walk onto the tip of the rock near the hole the stature now resides in and use the Z targeting on Midna when she moves from stature to branch to branch. Once you get through a minor jumping portion of the game you'll be face to face with another treasure chest containing yet another Piece of Heart!

So there it is, the locations of five Pieces of Heart scattered all over Hyrule. Happy Hunting.

In the Original Zelda game for the NES there were no pieces of Heart scattered through the land, just heart containers. Later in other installments of the series you had to find four pieces in order to complete an extra Heart Container.
