How will the MySpace Generation View President Bush?

JBC
I read on MySpace recently that the American populace needs to band together, and prevent Bush from being elected to a third term. This fatuous rally cry, however you feel about it, brings to light an important observation: Bush would not be re-elected, even if it were possible. Leftist newspapers are denouncing him as "the worst president ever," and the right-wing realizes he is a far cry from Reagan. The question now, is how history will remember the second president Bush.

My junior year history teacher told me that in order to judge the efficacy of a president, we must wait twenty years. The nation's elegy to Reagan was a testament to this, as is the fact that it is currently very 'trendy' to hate Bush. We must completely disconnect ourselves from the present in order to truly make an evaluation. This cannot be done.

Not even a year into office, Bush had to lead the country through 9/11. A year after that, he had to lead it through Iraq. Six years later, every word he speaks is haunted by the specter of a war that is not yet won. He choked on a pretzel, and his vice-president accidentally mistook a fellow hunter for game, and shot at him. Every event that we associate with Bush, his fault or not, is either a tragedy or paints him in a foolish light.

It is my opinion that George Bush is not a president best judged by his actions. Nor is he a president best judged by his oratorical ability. The best way to judge George Bush is by his convictions. He stands strong in a time when nothing is certain, and even when faced with insurmountable doubt, he does not waver. The same can not be said for Al Gore, nor John Kerry. Many times over he has been called a liar, but it has not impacted his decisions, which he steadfastly maintains are in the best interest of the country.

History will not judge George Bush as a man who had a hand in 9/11. They will not judge him as a man who had a hand in Abu Gharib. These judgments are indicative of widespread government mistrust, and are concentric to the present. I believe history will judge George Bush as a man, and only a man. To face the events that fate confronted his presidency with, it would have taken more than a man.

Elizebeth really should grow up, her talking over people is just so damn rude, she always has to TRY to make her oppinion more important... They sure are getting rid of the wrong girl on this show, and her comment on todays show, about Rosie and Donald was just uncalled for, it had nothing to do about Donald, it was just a low blow toward Rosie, I can tell Rosie is really trying to behave before she leaves, but i hope she knows Elizebeth is not what i call a friend. This show really upset me.... Rosie, keep up the good work, and your fans are true to you.

I think Elisabeth Hasselbeck is very disrespectful towards the other host on the show when she starts her rep.crap if she is so stupid that she can't see how this county is in the worst shape that it has ever been in she is as stupid as the fools who voted him in the first time . We all know he didn't win the votes the second time he was appointed. I think Elisabeth needs to go bye bye instead of Rosie. GO ROSIE We love you
