Further bids have gone in for wingers Elliott Bennett and Robert Snodgrass to further enhance this theory. The early signs are very good and it is exciting to see this squad shaping up. But the Premier League is a very tough division and there are a lot of clubs that have bigger transfer budgets than Norwich has. However, it is not always how much you spend '" but rather the players that you buy and it looks as though Lambert is buying smart. Quality players mixed in with the team spirit and momentum Norwich has at the moment should be a recipe for success. After all, it certainly worked for Norwich when they made the transition from League One to the Championship.
Let's face facts though sometimes football fans and pundits are easily impressed. For some reason they are still talking about Blackpool and how they are the inspiration for the newly promoted clubs. Personally I don't think Norwich should take any inspiration from Blackpool '" because despite their best efforts they were still relegated and that is certainly not Norwich City's aim.
So how will Norwich get on? Well that is anyone's guess and if I could predict football then I would be very rich. All I can say is I am very confident that Paul Lambert will keep Norwich in the Premier League and even if he doesn't, we will have the strongest squad in the Championship to make an instant return.
Will he do it the Blackpool way? In some ways yes, he will attack teams and look to play attractive football '" but I'm sure they will be occasions when he needs to close up shop and hold onto results. Hopefully at the end of next season '" Blackpool's Premier League performance will be long forgotten and everyone will be talking about Norwich; but hopefully because they showed how to attack but also stay in the Premier League.
Can Norwich afford to think higher than survival though? Well I certainly wouldn't rule it out and Norwich is exactly the sort of team that can surprise people. Also the fact that we are being tipped for relegation may play into our hands '" we tend to perform best when no one fancies us. We also tend to play our best against good teams '" well that aren't many bad teams in the Premier League. So all in all I'm looking forward to an exciting season in the Premier League.
