How to Win Friends

Have you wondered how other people attract friends so easily and others have to struggle and feel lonely? Here are eight tips to help you become more popular and happier.

If you always care about others, people will notice and want to be your friend because you show empathy with their problems, hopes and dreams. You give of yourself in special ways and he or she really appreciates it.

Showing interest in their hobbies will help you to learn new things and enjoy another person's company. You will have a fun time, and the conversation will flow smoothly and easily.

Buy the person a trinket once in awhile that you know will make them feel good and be glad you are their friend. It doesn't need to be expensive, a special book they've mentioned, a CD, etc. It will warm their heart and endear you to them.

Actually listening to someone can be a great help to the one you want to be friends with. Don't just act interested, but be interested. It will show, and you will have a friend for life.

Doing someone a favor, even without being asked is meaningful. It will make you a favorite person in their lives. The listen factor applies here, so you will know what that individual needs or wants.

Remember the person's birthday, anniversary or other occasions that are important to him or her. Forgetting those events won't make you a friend at all and might even alienate you.

Be friendly, smile and have body gestures that will let the person know you are approachable. Better yet, introduce yourself and say hi. Folks are often shy, and if you come over to him or her they will definitely like that.

It's a good idea to be where the people are. Join groups that have socials, parties, etc. and you can meet a lot of people with similar likes and dislikes to you. You will be glad you did.

Don't be shy. Instead, simply interact with others and they will appreciate it a lot. When you think of others, you will forget about your shyness.

The above nine tips should garner you more friends that will be with you for a long time to come and make you a much more joyful person.
