How to Win the Halloween Costume Contest

Let Your Unique Style Help You Win the Best Costume Contest

Halloween can be one of the funnest holidays to celebrate. With all of the parties and costumes going around you're sure to find somewhere to go. If you've been to a ghostly party in years past you know that there is always a contest for the best costume. Unless you're purely original you're one of the guest clapping on the sidelines for the winner. After some serious research on this I've decided that it doesn't matter what type of costume you wear for it to be a winner it's all about your personal flair. Now fortunate for me I'm the daughter of a costume contest winner. My father is usually a very serious man he only laughs when he feels as though it is completely outrageous and it is a very rare event for him to willingly make a foul of himself. A few years back he attended a halloween party he was suppose to be a can of pepsi but he could not find his air pump so what he ended up being was a crushed can of pepsi. He walked around as if that was his original plan. He pulled it off and he won that year. It was his unique approach to his problem that won him the contest.

The number one rule is to never choose a costume that is not fitting for your personality. If you know you don't have the guts or personality to wear a Barney costume then don't fool yourself. Usually costumes designed after children characters should stay at a children's party. So try to avoid them. Most party goers will be wearing the same costume styles. Princess, fairy, three musketeers, knight, etc however you want to go for something that will catch the eye, something that is a little different. When you're on the hunt for a unique to you costume try to find something that leaves you with a little room for revision. If you are a woman who's normally pretty shy and you want to come out of your shell a little you can pick a sexier version of a fairy and disguise your face with a mask. The mask will help you with your role play. If you are a guy known for your sense of humor try finding a costume that display your humorous side, try something purely original like a big joke book. Whatever the case pick a costume that will offer you a little room for revision and then add your personal flair.

The second rule is don't take your costume so seriously. If it doesn't come out exactly like you want make it your own. Use what you have to make it shine first prize. I personally believe attitude is what helps you win. Mix attitude with creativity and you have a winner. If your a princess be a pretty dead princess and then do a good job of it. Anything that gets you the most attention. Because remember attention equals possiblity. Hopefully you'll win a cool prize like money or something you can actually use.
