How to Win at Scrabble

Scrabble can be a very tough game to lose. Not only is it never fun to lose any game but when you lose Scrabble it also means you're stupid. Seriously, the best word you could come with was only four letters and no double points? What a moron! For any gamer that can't stand losing at Scrabble here are a few tips on how to win at Scrabble.

First of all, every Scrabble player wants a balanced selection of letters. If there are two of the same letter on the rack then try to get rid one of them. For words that do have two of the same letter in it look for the second letter on the board somewhere. A more balanced selection of letters will give the player a lot more flexibility to create words anywhere on the board.

Counting cards in casinos is illegal but there are no rules in Scrabble about counting letters. Examine the board and keep in mind which letters have been placed a lot and which letters have rarely been used. This will give the player a good idea of what letters their opponent has or what letters have yet to be drawn from the bag.

One of the trickiest aspects of Scrabble is to create a long word. Players should definitely think ahead about future long words but also don't concentrate on them so much that it hinders the current word that is being created.

Know your P's and Q's. Well really, just know your Q's. Most Scrabble players don't mind when they get a difficult letter like X or Z but Q is tough for most players because they think every word that has a Q is followed by a U. That is not the case. Do a search on Google (or your favorite search engine) for "words containing Q not followed by U" and you'll find a list of words to keep in the back of your brain. Some of them these words are quite easy to spell like coq, qanat, qat, qin and qi. If you're ever able to come up with qhythsontyd then chances are you are going to win.

If you trust Wikipedia then one useful tool for Scrabble players is a list of English words with uncommon properties. This list includes a list of words with many vowels, which is helpful since the vowels are the most common letters. There is also a list of words with no vowels for those rare times when you are vowel-less.

Oh man, I am the Scrabble Queen- nobody will play me, except for my grandma, but I always let her cheat (and win).
